I'm glad to see that CH has quashed the "shadow king" rumours once and for all.:flowers:

Thank you ghost night554 for posting these links.
Regarding the Shadow King one, I get the impression that he's trying to establish himself while at the same time trying not to step on Charle's toes or overshadow him in any way. It must be difficult at times and maybe that's why he has held back a little bit. He seems very respectful toward his father which is nice.

He is not only respectful towards his father but clearly absolutely adores him and will not allow anyone to put him forward in any way that undermines his father.

Because it's not his turn. Prince Charles is the next in line to the throne, not William. He would be usurping his father's right to become king.

why william does not want to be the next king?

Because he loves his father.

Really there are two reasons:

1. His father has been trained and prepared for it for years. It is his father's birthright to succeed his mother and William's to succeed his own father. William, of course, loves his father and to replace his father as the next King would damage that relationship, which is very very important to both men.

2. Considering the ages concerned the Queen will most likely pass on while William has youngish children and becoming King would therefore take from him some of the pleasures of being a father whereas with his father being King, William will still have those times with his own children that his father had with him but the Queen didn't have with her children due to becoming monarch at such a young age. Even if Charles is only King for 10 years that is 10 years more for William to spend time with his own growing family.

IMO Prince William looks very old in this portrait.

Actually William has left the army and is now in the RAF and I think Harry has left this regiment as well so they aren't their 'current' uniforms but ones they were wearing in 2008.

Harry is still formally a member of the Blues and Royals, and currently wears their uniform. He is training to be a member of the Army Air Corps, but isn't one yet. Should he be successful in his training, then he'll join the Army Air Corps and no longer be part of the Blues and Royals.

What a nice portrait of the brothers together. I like how it looks formal but yet relaxed.

Yes, she made him look less attractive than he is in real life (not something he can afford) and also took an artistic licence with his hair (to his advantage this time). Harry however is spot on.

Overall, it looks too much like the cover of a romance novel for me.

I was trying to think what it reminded me of and that is exactly it - the historical fiction romance books that I have read set in the Napoleonic Wars.

I don't like how she did William either. Harry looks alright though.

I get this impression too and that's probably why he's easing into his royal role instead of becoming a full time royal partly so he doesn't overshadow his father. And why not, he has plenty of time to do it gradually. And I would even take it a step further and say that might be why he chose the RAF instead of the Navy. In addition to his love of flying he also avoids unnecessary comparisons to his father.
I think he's being smart in taking a military job that he can keep himself preoccupied with despite his detractors' criticisms.

Thanks for finding all these pictures iceflower!!:flowers:
I am so in love :heart2: with Wills after seeing him be so natural and open with these kids! (Not that I already didn't have a huge crush on him!) But these just melt my heart.

Wow! He had 3 engagements in one day. Way to go William! I agree Lillibetforever he seems to be such a natural with kids. I like the pic of him receiving a big bear hug from that child on his lap.

He is such a natural with children truly his mother's son. I remember a photo take a Xmas or two ago walking to church holding Viscount Linley's daughter's hand as if it was the most natural thing in the world to do. Melts my heart he does. Lucky lady who eventually ends up marrying him. Hope he is godfather to one of Laura Lopes' twins.

I just think William is fabulous I am so pleased to see him such a fine young man.

What a busy day for him. Nice that his Aunt Sarah accompanied him on his first visit to the Hospice.
Like everyone else, my favorite pictures are of him interacting with the children. Too cute!

Prince William has charisma as her Mum, Princess Diana.
