If you're referring to my remark, Sister Morphine, I wasn't chiding her, merely making an observation. People want to see the ring, and she was making a point of displaying it. It appeared to me to be a such an obvious display position that it was intentional and more than the usual behaviour of a newly engaged woman.

When she was snapped leaving the church a while ago someone observed that one of the things she would have to learn is to make brief stops at such times for photo-ops, and I was reminded of that comment when I saw these photos and it made me wonder if one of her advisors had suggested she walk with her left hand in a prominant position so people could see her ring. I'm not suggesting there's anything at all wrong with her doing it.

I think you are right about the ring. A couple of times her left hand looked like it wanted to grab William's hand rather than just sort of trying to look good with her left hand on display to the people on her right. She gets an A+ for the effort.

As for the idea of making small stops, unlike the rest of the party, neither William nor Kate looked like they had dressed for the "weather"!! A brief stop and a ring wave could have seen a fabulous sapphire fly off a cold wizened finger . . . . not a good way to start "Engagements".

Catherine (Kate) has beautiful legs and feet.

Though a little too thin; Catherine (Kate) has beautiful legs and feet. I do hope her fashion sense stirs the economy in a fashionable way as Princess Diana did,

Why can't she?

She can show her ring off anytime she wants. She's a newly engaged woman- plus think of all the fuss the press would make if she was caught without it.

Of course she can show off her ring as much as she wants, but she doesn't need to. She can just wear it and not make a point of facing her hand towards the cameras.

She might not wear it at home. She might be terrified of losing the stone. She might find it catches on things, or that she knocks it on things. It is a big lump of a ring. She might only wear it when she goes out. I'm sure she will wear it when she goes out, at least at first, but she might surprise us and not wear it all the time. Wearing an engagement ring is not a legal obligation, just a tradition, and therefore a choice.

Here is an article about how they used the engagement interview to raise money for charity. Perhaps tonight's cancer charity will receive some of the proceeds...

I see. My mistake. I thought they did a interview after tonight's cancer charity.

In our family we have a running joke about how a newly engaged woman has to say (quite often)

"Oh gosh, it's so HOT in here, I'll have to take my RING off!!! [flashes ring ostentatiously]"

... It's only fair!!! !!!

How lovely to see them together again! Although I admit I still have to get used to it.

As for her ring: she's just a happily engaged woman showing her status, big deal. Get over it.

Of course she flashed her ring! It was was their first public outing since the Engagement and, to be absolutely fair, that is what the people wanted to see. Not just William and Kate but Kate and "The Ring"!

As she was on William's right so she could be seen, it meant she couldn't hold his arm or hand because he has to shake hands with his right and so she had to wing it and I think she did a great job. The couple of occasions when she had fallen a little behind him he put his arm around her and moved her up beside him was really warm and sweet.
