I LOVE Prince Harry, He has served his country, now allow him time to himself and his family, because being royal or not, his family is thrilled he is home all in one piece. My son has now served in the Air Force for 8 years, I miss him terribly and if he came back home, I would want some alone time, I can't imagine having to satisify the media first. Hope Harry gets time with W&C, they seem to be very close to each other. So glad he is back home!!

What happened to the one week decompression period? 24 hours is very little time!

I thought he was laughing when he said it. I didnt take it as malicious or mean-spirited.

Not sure where you heard the "one week" thing, I think it was just over 24 hours in Cyprus and then a few days in Wattisham finishing up before his 5 week leave.

According to the RAF website; RAF Community - Decompression

Quote:
Decompression usually takes between 24 and 36 hours and further details are available in the short video below.

I'm really surprised the period is so short. That's not much more time than soldiers returning from Vietnam had to adjust, and so many of them found it really difficult to be let loose back into the ordinary world after such a short time. Maybe the techniques have improved dramatically since then.

Prince Harry did not go with the rest of his 662 Squadron, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps, to their headquarters in Wattisham in Suffolk.

St James’s Palace said he left Brize Norton privately, but did not comment on where he was headed.

Now that's something I didn't expect him to clearly "duck" out of. If his regiment does it, he should. Simple.

Just becasue we dont know where he is doesnt mean he was "ducking out". He has a lot of people and groups who claim his time. It could just be extenuating circumstances and he will meet up at Wattisham later. The fact is he has many commitments ... it could just be one more of these interviews he has to give or a separate security briefing and it isnt fair to delay/impact his squad any more.

Putting aside the controversy about his recent interviews, I'm glad Harry was able to find a career he loves and at which he excels. He admits he wasn't talented academically and he's an independently wealthy, but non-essential prince. He could have wound up leading a pretty frivolous life with no sense of purpose.

He's ducked out and gone home with probably special permission. There's been no family emergency, else we would have heard, there's not reason for him to have a security briefing nor are there any more interviews scheduled.

Of course one assumption is that you have all of the information. When I don't fully understand something, I find it useful to think there may be information missing that I am not privy to. I find in business and life that approach has been more beneficial.

MichelleQ2, dear Henry does have a history of "ducking out" so I think Lumutqueen may be forgiven for making that assumption. Indeed, for all the talk he does about wanting to be with his boys... he does seem to be ducking out.

I totally agree, it works both in business and in ones private life. You know what they say about making assumptions......

It doesn't matter what he says, the press will use it against him no matter what and people will think what they want. I saw a comment in the Guardian (I think) saying he is "severely intellectually challenged". He may not test well but neither does my niece and she has an iq of 142.

For him (and others in this situation) this is a lose lose situation and it must be frustrating.
If he's so intellectually challenged, then why is he a Co Pilot of one of, if not *the*, most technically advanced War Helicopter ever designed?

*snort*

Thank God that Harry and all of his Squadron mates are home safe and sound!!
