So Harry's definitely caught the helicopter bug then, too, it appears.

I think the picture of him that accompanies the article is quite a good one. He looks like Earl Spencer with Prince Philip's eyes and nose.
Ella Kay I think Prince Harry is looking more and more like Earl Spencer and Prince Philip.

I wish PW and PH all the best on the helicopter training course, it must be so hard to decide to embark on this sort of difficult training knowing that if you don't pass then the whole world will know it and the press will drag it up from time to time forever more.

So how long do you think it will be before people start to complain about the boys joining an elite gentlemens club?

Why is this news, it is a 'normal' event for young men of their wealth. At least the subscription is faily low and will work out cheaper than Mahiki or Boujis.

Princes go to ground at the Turf Club | Mail Online
It seems it's a club where ladies are allowed to accompany members for lunch or dinner. Probably a good idea if one or both of them wants to go out without prying eyes.

Indeed, it is one of those rare Clubs that actually allow women to attend, it does not however allow women to become members!

My grandfather´s Club wouldn´t let a woman within miles of the front door, so this sounds like a very "progressive" club. It is normal for a young man of wealth to join such a club and quite the "done" thing. I am sure a young lady invited for lunch with either the Princes will feel very flattered and I am sure the other members are going to be far more discreet than in the nightclubs they have frequented up until now.
I have just remembered another "perk" if they are out with one young lady it will make it impossible for them to be caught out by another.

Even the ones where women can't attend, I think it's fine to have these clubs because each gender needs to have time without the "better half" sometimes. If men don't have their men only time, the result is generally miserable for everyone. And the same goes for women, they need women only things too.

I don't think that it's ever been made public whether or not they are.

The only Royals that are confirmed as Freemasons are the Duke of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent and the Duke of Edinburgh. Philip became a mason in 1952 and has not been active since then. He did so because he had promised George VI that he would do so and when the king died he honoured his promise but also took no further part in masonic activities.

Charles is on record as saying that he didn't wish to belong to an organisation with secrets. Mountbatten was strongly anti-masons and influenced both his nephew and great-newphew not to either continue with active membership or become a member.

There in no record of William or Harry becoming Masons. However, that being said many Old Etonians and Sandhurst graduates are masons so they may have joined.

If they have it is no business of anyone else's anyway and I hope, if they have joined, they has as much fun and enjoyment as my father has had and I have by belonging to an associated organisation.

Here's a gallery pics pics from today:

Prince Harry is greeted by The Very Reverend Dr John Hall, the Dean of Westminster, as he
arrives at a service to honor the "Woman's Own Children of Courage Awards 2008" at West-
minster Abbey on December 10, 2008 in London, England. It is the 35th year the awards
have been presented to children who have been extraordinarily heroic, cared for their family
or endured pain, suffering and disability.

Prince Harry gets go-ahead to train as attack helicopter pilot

Prince Harry gets go-ahead to train as attack helicopter pilot | Mail Online

Quote:
For the past month, the 24-year-old soldier has undergone rigorous assessment at the Army Air Corps headquarters in Middle Wallop, Hampshire. After a gruelling interview with the selection board, he has now been told his application was successful.

Prince Harry will transfer to the AAC full time at the end of January. After an initial Army pilot's course lasting just over a year, his instructor will decide whether he is among the 2 per cent of trainees up to the task of flying the military's top attack helicopter - the £35million Apache.

Sources insist that Harry wasn't given any special treatment. 'It's a very rigorous course and around 50 to 60 per cent of applicants fail,' said one.
'Harry was subjected to the same rigorous selection procedures as all the other candidates. The Army couldn't afford to let him up in a multimillion pound helicopter if he wasn't up to scratch.'
I hope this is true and that after the Prince-William-got-his-RAF-Wings discussion we won't have to go through a Prince-Harry-will-be-flying-Apache discussion.

And I sincerely hope that we won't have any stories of Harry landing his Apache in Chelsy's garden for a nice demonstration on what these attack helicopters and their tough pilot guys are capable of

And if we believe that we will believe anything. What selection officers are going to risk their careers by turning Harry down!

The moment it was announced to the media that he would be trying out for the job, he was guaranteed the position.
