Actually, there are no good cigarettes. Smoking is not in the least bit appealing. It makes your teeth ugly, your breath stink, and it is bad for your health. Prince Harry's aunt Margaret and his grandfather King George VI both suffered from smoking related illnesses, and King George, died way too young from cancer and atheriosclerosis. I hope Harry quits soon, for his own sake.

They also can cause nasty burns on sensitive -and at times vital- areas if they fall from your hands while driving.

Its just really gross. Besides, didn't they teach him when he was young that smoking and drinking and doing drugs are bad for you?

Yes, his daddy told him that one day, while he was going out to meet Camilla for an illicit game of leap frog. Draw your own conclusions.

too bad that you can't take a joke. ;)

however .. all things considered .... up to 50 years ago, smoking was the "in thing" ... compliments of Hollywood and suave actresses (and actors) drawing a smoke through a long cigarette holder. I confess to the thought that that image still strikes me as suave.

Now the 'western world" read the USA, has declared smoking to be a big no-no and is 'forcing'? its views on the rest of the world. So ... in essence, the pendulum will swing the whole other way in the civilized? world -- as is wont the american way -- before the world outside the USA realizes that there is a middle ground, and takes an independent route to it.

I deem smoking addiction to be like a caffeine habit, a craving for chocolate, shortness of sleep habit ... they're all habits ..... and the main thing IMHO is to realize that there is a difference between moderation and addiction.

Well, the whole problem with that is the fact that smoking kills.

Let me tell you something, the fact he smokes is irrelevant. The fact is that it's Charles's fault that he smokes, just like it's his fault that Bin Laden's still free, that Global warming's continuing, that President Bush has a unibrow, that Macau has a huge provincial debt, and that Pam Anderson's breasts look like celestial bodies.

No one ever died from passive chocolate eating.

Smoking is said to be a need for relaxation or de-stressing in some cases. But I think that's mainly in instances of adults in high pressure working life. Or perhaps also in troubled family situations. Or perhaps here also, in addition to a troubled family situation, as a sign of rebellion, thumbing the nose at the perceived values of those around him. His father hates smoking, for instance.

Bravo Grecka! Poli kala pedaikimou!  :p :p

It is not Charles' fault that Harry smokes. He is his own person. Yet again Charles gets the bad dad routine.

Harry didn't exactly come from a very happy family. Plus, I've heard that the only reason why Harry smokes in public is to annoy his father.

Prince Harry the pop star
World Entertainment News Network

Music mogul Simon Cowell wants to turn British royal Prince Harry
into a pop idol.

The American Idol and Pop Idol judge is convinced the 19-year-old
heir could make millions as a chart heart-throb - and it doesn't even
matter if he can sing.

Cowell has in the past said the same of Harry's brother William, but
he claims the younger Prince is far more marketable.

He says, "Both of them would make millions, absolutely millions. But
I'd sign Harry over William. I think he's far more attractive and
more of a party boy.

"At the moment there's much more attention on William but I think
that's going to change.

"They're moving in different directions and people will soon become
more interested in Harry.

"I don't know if he can sing or not but that's not always a problem."

IMO, he comes from a "family" that has become increasingly dysfunctional in recent years. A control-freakin' father with repressive and abusive ways who never loved anyone other than himself is not exactly a role model to have much less being left with as the sole parent. This is not a healthy nor happy situation for any teen to be confronted with, especially one who is so frequently under public scrutiny. With a parent like that it's only a wonder that Harry doesn't smoke in his sleep!

It's surprising that someone so keen on sports is a smoker, but teens do seem to think they're immortal.

However, since he comes from a broken home (that sounds as if it was broken from at least the time he would have been old enough to notice), a paternal line where appearances are paramount and emotions are repressed and where he's considered less important than his brother simply because of their relative ages, and a maternal line where emotional instability seems to be the norm rather than the exception, I suppose that turning to cigarettes and alcohol wasn't that surprising after all.

THE HORSE WHISPERER

Prince Harry demonstrated a touch of animal magic at a polo match in Gloucestershire on Monday. The young royal, who had come along to cheer on his brother William, was pictured blowing into the nostrils of the horses to help calm them down.

The 19-year-old would have played in the match himself, but he is still recovering from a knee injury suffered during a recent Army training session. Harry still did his bit to help the team, by soothing the animals before they took to the field. And his efforts have drawn comparisons to the legendary American "horse whisperer" Monty Roberts, who inspired a film starring Robert Redford.

Monty, who once had a meeting with the Queen, became renowned for his ability to win a horse's trust. But Harry is also well recognized for his equestrian skills, having honed his abilities during his time working as a "jackaroo" in the Australian Outback.

In the end the teenage royal's contribution wasn't enough to secure victory for Wills' Umbogo team, because they lost to White Hall. Perhaps they will fare better when Harry's knee gets better and he can join them on the field instead.

But i thought that Charles wasn't all that controlling and that was one of the reasons why Harry had done pot.

There's many methods of controlling others than outright having them on a short leash. A cunning controller will always make the outward appearance of being a "tolerant" reasonable, caring parent, they don't want to become a blatant case for Child Protective Services to investigate. There's also a difference between controlling and neglectful. In the case of Prince Charles, he's always managed to be both very well.
