With Andrew it would be shooting golf balls.

There's the Prince's education--particularly his time in Canada--his naval career (it didn't stop after the Falklands War), his current work on behalf of British business. He's involved with many charities as well. I think that there's lots of information for a book.

As far as George V goes, the "shooting animals on his estates" and "sticking stamps into albums" time was when he was Duke of York, not when he was Prince of Wales and then King.

As much as I like Prince Andrew the list of guests completely perplexed me. I expected more decent people would attend.

Which of the people mentioned isn't 'decent'?

Are you referring to all the nude pics on the internet of Goga Ashkenazi??

I'm more interested in his calling Sarah his 3rd child.

I did refer to Ms.Ashkenazi, but I am totally unaware of her nude photos. Given the fact that Prince Andrew had some business dealings with Kazakh businessmen, having a Kazakh guest is not surprising. It is great that Ms.Anshkenazi has got an access to the top social strata. At the same time, I find her demeanour unpleasant and do not like the way she boasts about her friendship with Prince Andrew.

Glamorous billionaire socialite Goga Ashkenazi likes to boast she has 'a prince on one arm and a billionaire on the other', referring to her close friendships with Prince Andrew and oil magnate Timur Kulibayev, with whom she has a child.

I know nothing about Ms Ashkenazi but I do know something about the media. One should always be wary of the tags and labels that columnists and journalists apply to people in the public eye. Ms Ashkenazi may well be informing everyone she comes across that she has "a prince on one arm and a billionaire on the other", but then again, she may have used this line once as a joke, only to find it picked up and repeated. It gets to a point where no media report on her activities can get by without applying the label, thereby giving readers the impression that she says little else.

Linda Evangelista made a throw-away jest that she "wouldn't get out of bed for less than $20,000" and it followed her around for a decade or two. The media love to pick up and pin such "character-defining" tags, most of them on the whole uncomplimentary, and often enough it is no more than lazy and repetitive journalism.

That being said, Ms Ashkenazi may be an arrogant harridan flaunting her elite social and monied connections left right and centre; but for all we know she may in fact possess not only a keen sense of humour and talent for the one-liner, but be perfectly charming in the bargain.

George V boring? Let's see...grandson of Queen Victoria, death of his brother, sudden heir to the throne, the grand world tours that he and Queen Mary did while Duke and Duchess of York, then Prince and Princess of Wales, World War I, the complex family relationships (the Romanov's and Kaiser Wilhem), and the antics of his son, Edward? George V led a very interesting life. The problem with George V that his life was interesting but not in a gossip sort of way that people are interested in now a days. People are more apt to write and read about his son, Edward as opposed to George V, his son George VI and Elizabeth.

Andrew on the other hand, I think an official biography would focus on the Falklands War and a bit too much on his marriage to Sarah the good and the bad. And honestly, I can't imagine an official biography giving us any new information. But I could be wrong

Unfortunately, I "Bing'd" her for "Images" and they all came up. Although, I must say she's got a stellar bod. . . .

Oh, I have a feeling somebody will write a biography about Andrew and/or Sarah eventually...
And who knows, maybe it will actually be more interesting than people expect! A good writer who knows her subject can make just about anything interesting.

I fully agree with you about the media, but my opinion about Ms. Ashkenazi remains unfavourable. Overall her demeanour is that of nouveau riche, who tries hard to fit in.

It has been kind of you to provide information! Well ... these photos do not surprise me much. At the same time, I admit that she is a nice looking woman.

Once again, I don't want to come across as Ms Ashkenazi's public defender, but a Google images search under "Goga Ashkenazi" brings up these pages:

page 1: one shot of a young bare-breasted Ms Ashkenazi which appears in a Kazakh website in a story which tries hard to infer that Prince Andrew may be the father of her baby.
(why wasn't this story picked up by the British tabloids? Rupert Murdoch would be furious at this lost opportunity for a "Randy Andy Bastard Baby - Queen Shocked! House of Windsor Rocked!" tabloid expos);
page 2: Anticlimax: no topless or nude pics here;
page 3: Yes! Goga on a boat, photographed side on and showing (or flaunting) one bare bosom (gasp!);
page 4: Sorry folks, not a square inch of bare flesh to be seen. Boring.

Goga Ashkenazi is actually old news. Members with keen memories may recall her with Andrew at Ascot 2007. Nice diamonds.
-> .Prince Andrew and Lady Goga (joke)

It has been most kind of you to give Ms. Askenazi a benefit of the doubt based on the information you obtained from the Internet. In the end, there is nothing much to discuss. I wish Prince Andrew were more careful in choosing people he associates with. He has been receiving a good deal of adverse publicity. Some connections may add to the unfavourable media coverage.
As for Ms. Ashkenazi's diamonds, having not-nice diamonds would have been shameful.

Zonk I really dont think that if his mother were the Queen of Sheba it would make George V anything but boring.
I cant see how your ancestors near or far make you interesting.
Prince Andrews trips round the world doing a job that was more or less invented for him or his cousin, doesnt make him less boring, at least to me.

That's okay Warren, I used the search engine "Bing" which I really don't like and they came up with a whole host of pictures from that yachting trip all nude. I am trying to switch to Google because I feel the "porn" is filtered better there though Russo is not sure how to do that she just got a new tower as the old system saw the blue screen of death. And let me tell you, "Bing" just does NOT do the trick with any Royal searches I can tell you!!!

Speaking for myself, I have found biographies of George V and George VI quite interesting.

I also think that it's quite possible that there's more to Prince Andrew that meets the eye.

You know, I agree with you Mermaid, it just seems to me that there is a lot that doesn't add up with the PA.

Well stated Warren and Mermaid.
We really know very little about the real lives,the day-to-day personal activities of people who are written about in books and on the internet.We can only hope that the authors and reporters and bloggers are doing a good,thorough job of researching and checking up on their sources.
