Does anyone else think she looks a little OTT. Maybe she could get away with wearing that outfit if she was an actual Royal or fully fledged celebrity. But she isn't.

Poor Kate, she can't win with her critics can she? She's either too dull or too over-the-top; dresses down or dresses up with no style; gets annoyed by paparazzi at the shops, or smiles for the press photographers at a large social racing event; and if that wasn't enough, she has the temerity to smile at a friend's wedding! And how come William gets off scott-free? After all, he's the other half of this relationship. There must be something catty to say about him too, surely?

I also think she looks great! And I didn't notice any trace, well, smugness or something, in her. She seems a very nice person.

There is even a pic of her in the Royal Box at Cheltenham. So I guess it's time to dress a bit "Royally" as she has done lately. She is correct, not OTT in my opinion.

I really like the coat and boots. But her delicate features look swamped by the big, furry hat.

If she was in the Royal Box, I think she was dressed appropriately - ie, to be seen.

Even if she wasn't in the Royal Box, from the pictures I've seen, it looks like people dress up for the Cheltenham Races. So the coat, boots and hat (though not that particular hat, if I had my way) were probably in line with what most people were wearing.

At least Kate's smiling. I think it's because she expected the photographers and knew it was going to be a pretty big event. Other photos of her are when she is shopping or doing daily errands. Her outfit is fine but that hat overwhelms her!

I think that she does look good. However, I do think that she looks too old for her age!

Two of her smiling, One not, to keep everyone happy. It's a pity she wore a real fur hat but, it looks nice and I would think it was warm!

See, I think the hat is far too old for her. I'm also in my early twenties, and I'd never consider wearing anything like that, she just looks like a little girl trying to be more mature than she is. That aside, I think she seems like a sweet girl with a good head on her shoulders, and if she makes William happy that's the most important thing. I wish them luck, unlike Harry and Chelsy, but then that's a subject for another thread isn't it?

I have a question. If Kate is accepted by the royal family and will one day be his bride. Why wasn't she photographed with any of the other members of the royal family that attended. Prince Charles and Camilla, Laura parker bowles and her sister? They seemed to have distanced themselves?

Look at wireimage.com for more pictures of who came to that event.

This is so typical coming from the Sun newspaper. She isn't even next to the royal family. Anyone with a large sum of money can go in the royal box. I'm not exactly sure how much it is to be in the Royal box, but it is alot.

Here's the pic. As to being "next to the Royal Family", she's not exactly sitting in Charles's lap, but she's closer than most (rich) punters will ever get.
Princesslily, are you suggesting Kate paid to be invited into the immediate area occupied by Charles and his party? Is there an extra charge for only having two people between her and the Prince of Wales?

Thanks a LOT for that pic, Warren. I didn't know Kate was that close to Charles, I thought they were just at the same event. Don't think she could get that close to the Royals if, well, she wasn't welcomed there.

.
Laura does not have a sister, that is her sister-in-law, Toms wife, Sara.

If they had distanced themselves, she would not have been in the royal box. Contrary to 'popular' belief, you can't just buy your way into the box, otherwise you would have to accept people like al Fayed.

FAIRYTALE OF WILLS 'N' KATE

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/tm...name_page.html

Perhaps this is why she was smiling, she had already read it!

On smiling and not smiling: When Kate goes to an event where she knows there are photographers(f.inst.wedding with royal guests, Cheltenham, other races) she of course accepts that and behaves normally, smiles and talks. When she is out shopping or partying etc she doesn't expect to be photographed and doesn't feel like smiling when the cameras are put in her face. I can understand her.
