I personally think a lot of these paps have major issues. They serve no purpose to society and I hope the royals, from the Queen on down take legal action against them

From a few years ago but the principle still applies

The Queen gets tough on paparazzi in royal privacy row - Telegraph
The new get-tough approach has the full support of the Prince of Wales, Prince William, Prince Harry and other senior members of the Royal family, who are now prepared to take legal action against what they see as the "intrusive and unacceptable behaviour" of photographers.

The new strategy is likely to be tested later this month when the Queen, accompanied by other members of the Royal family, enjoys her traditional Christmas break at Sandringham, her Norfolk estate.

Several freelance photographers usually spend many hours a day touring Sandringham in the hope of "snatching" photographs of the Royal family on the estate.

However, senior aides at both Buckingham Palace and Clarence House have told The Sunday Telegraph that they will no longer tolerate photographers using telephoto lenses to capture pictures of the Royal family in "private" situations.

From my own feeling, pictures of Prince George without his parents present on private property are wrong (eg the pics with the nanny) and I understand W&K stand up against them.

Trying to prevent photos in public places such as Kensington Park is a joke though. Of course W&K can sue, but I don't think the public will understand or it will get them anywhere. They have enough private space at their disposal but if they chose Kensington Park for a walk, like hundreds of common folk, they have to live with pictures.
The same goes for Harry & Cressida / Prince Andrew in public places or beaches, they are public figures and have to live with their picture being taken when out and about, and not only when working.

And what is the point of suing with the 'success' of pictures being removed from the website of a specific news outlet? What a waste of time, money & energy, the pics are out there on the net anyway.

I am sure Willam will disagree but I can see him getting more bitter on the issue by the year what is not a good attitude for a future king. He needs to find a balance and that is not suing for every picture that is not sanctioned by him.

I don't think William is bitter at all. He is a man of principles, he understands that George will be photographed but he will not allow the law to be broken in order for a pap to get the shots they want.

Its all very simple, William along with all senior members of the BRF agree that there are times when the family is off limits and photographers who don't respect this will get a letter from the family's solicitors notifying them to stop the behaviour.

Diana certainly had a go at reporters when they were intrusive (with the boys) and I am sure both William and Harry remember that.

I don't think it's unreasonable for a royal (or famous person) to expect they can walk about in a park without someone snapping pics. If they are on the job that's different.

From what I understood the legal action is against a specific reporter that is Niraj Tanna... It seems that he follows George on regular basis: from his walks in the park to his visits at BP's pool... I think that they are annoyed by the fact that the photographer knows every step and every single detail of his daily routine...

Also they didn't actually sue. It was a final notice letter that informs if the harassment doesn't stop then they will sue.

And if he knows George's every step and every single detail of his daily routine then Niraj Tanna is a creepy stalker

Yes, he is indeed and seems fiercely convinced to keep doing it...

there is a difference between stalking and pictures taken in public places.

Seems to me, if someone is consistently in the same place at the same time as someone else to whom they have no connection either physically or spiritually, they either have an uncanny ability to always be at the "right" place at the "right" time, or they're stalking that person.

exactly... but how do they actually know all the moves of P.George? someone must inform him

How many black Range Rovers with an escort car are coming out of KP? Not that many since its only WKG & H getting that treatment. You could probably pay some guy to tail them on a bike.

Anyone who looks at the unsanctioned photos (and we all do) of any celebrity are accessory to the stalker. Don't buy any more mags with unofficial photos . Who's going to do that? We all wait with baited breath to see any photo, so we are part of the problem.

^^^Good point KittyAtlanta. Personally I choose not to but I agree that those who purchase the magazines or click on the photos drives the market for them.

As an avid Law and Order (and all its spin offs) fan this gives the expert knowledge to declare this is STALKING.

Fair point!

I do agree. If people didn't purchase these magazines, there wouldn't be a market for the pictures.

Since the death of Diana I have not bought any magazines that cover famous people etc. That includes any tabloid type ..not even People Magazine etc.

and let's be honest we (almost everyone) all eagerly wait for more pics of George... At least me :-D

We've seen as much or more of George than William at the same age. I look forward to new photos as well but all in due time. I think they will surprise us with an impromptu photo shoot like at the polo on Father's Day

Totally agree with KittyAtlanta. When People and other news outlets pleased not to publish unauthorized pics of celebrity's kids, I gained a lot more respect for them and will buy them in much greater number. I hope that outlets will agree to a similar rule with the Prince when he is not on duty with his parents.

Very true, everyone can't wait for new pictures of George. I just don't want the kid followed around and at risk in order to get those pictures. I would like to see the Cambridge's out and about as a family though.

Yes I obviously agrre that George should not be put in danger or frightened by the stalking... Hope the warning will work and that the paparazzi will make a step back

I don't think this can be compared. The media attitude and climate was very different 30+ years ago.

i'd assume that george, like any other baby, has a very set routine on when he sleeps, eats, and goes out. since kensington park is next door, if they wait around the area they frequent in the park for a week, it's very probable they will bump into him and his nanny. otherwise, with things like twitter today paps can know where their subjects are fairly painlessly.

If you were in a public park and you saw a royal person who was not on an official outing, and you had means, would you snap a photo? Of course you would, so would I. If you say you wouldn't, I doubt you.

You can doubt me all you want...but no I wouldn't. I have no interest in having pics of famous people in my house. We don't have royalty here...my interest in royals is more about the history of the families not just because they are famous. It's neat to follow their lives to a point...but from a distance.

There are some famous (hollywood type) people from near where I live...when they come home to see family etc...people here don't bother them. They go about town and eat etc...very few people are brazen enough to interrupt them.

But are you selling that photo to the world or are you keeping it and showing your friends back home your royal photo?

I was at KP in July 2012. I took a photo a black cocker spaniel tied to a bench in the gardens right outside the palace. I took its picture and told my friends it was Lupo. I don't think it was because WK were at the Thistle Service in Scotland that day. I didn't sell it to the tabloids for some abandon dog story.

I am also one that would not take a picture. I would certainly smile to myself that I've seen them but would respect their privacy to be out and about without being hounded to death or a camera or cell phone aimed at them. I just feel that this is rude. With anyone famous, anyone that would interrupt a meal or an outing because they know who the person is, does not stop to consider that they themselves probably wouldn't care for it much if they were constantly bombarded by strangers.

There is really nothing special in "seeing" or "spotting" someone familiar to you in my book.

Also, well known people really don't like fans to go crazy and snap tons of pictures of them. Seriously, if I saw the Cambridge family in the park or any other off duty and private outing, I would offer a warm smile and perhaps wave but I wouldn't go over and disturb them or hold a camera up and start snapping.

I went nuts over a famous TV actor I accidentally came across years ago. He ran and I felt really bad afterwards. The idea is to remain cool, calm and collective.
