I don't think it will lead to long term psychological problems for Louise. I'm just saying that I think there are other ways to handle Louise in public places than with a reign or leash.

Cristina of Spain has three young boys and is often seen around Barcelona walking with her sons to and from school, to the movies or to sporting events, and always she and her husband have been able to take care of their sons without a reign or leash. You would think that Sophie could handle one little girl on her own too.

Cristina is also in her own city and neighbourhoods.

In a strange place it pays to be vigilant about where kids are. Having spent lots of time with kids that age, it takes all your energy sometimes to keep up with them, and they get away fast. Sophie would probably rather be safe than sorry despite having security.

Why couldn't Sophie do the same?

If the headline I just saw on the news is correct - it is because she is pregnant. With the trouble she has had with pregnacies lifting her daughter may be something she has been advised not to do. My mother was told that with me when I was three and she was pregnant again (unfortunately it didn't help and I didn't get a little brother or sister).

I live just outside of NYC and I think the parent putting the child on a safety leash and harness is a GOOD THING. Things are so fast pace and crazy where I live and children are running around and the parents aren't watching them. It takes only a split second for some crazy nut to take your child. If a safety leash and harness is the price to pay for the safety of a child, then so be it!!
Would you want your child in the hands of a pedophile?? Here in the USA, all we hear of constantly is the kidnapping and killing of young children by these dangerous people. Think about the fates of Shasta and Dylan Groene here in Idaho, USA. Dylan is dead and Shasta has to spend the rest of her life without a mother or two brothers that were murdered.

In ou Forums, i think we get a habitat that always compare this one to the other one. We should remember that Cristina is Cristina,Mathilde is Mathilde and Sophie is Sophie.Maybe Edward and Sophie want Louise to have private life,it is their business and we should respect them,we just have a topic and we have talked for really long time, and now Louise has appeared in public, you guys still complaint and want she appears more.

ROYAL EXCLUSIVE: SOPHIE PREGNANT

By NATHAN YATES, Royal Reporter
SOPHIE Wessex feared the odds of having another child were stacked against her after problems with the birth of first daughter Lady Louise and an earlier ectopic pregnancy.
So the 40-year-old and her husband Prince Edward were delighted at discovering she was carrying their second baby.
The joy will be tinged with apprehension following Sophie’s previous difficulties but the couple are said to be “unbelievably happy” at the pregnancy.
Buckingham Palace is expected to make an official announcement soon.

But a source at the couple’s Surrey mansion Bagshot Park said last night: “They have wanted this baby for a very long time. Obviously they will be worried after everything that happened before but it’s fantastic news for them.”
Sophie and Edward, 41 – who made no secret about their wish to have another child – have already started looking for a nanny for the new child.
Among them is Claire Verity, who has worked for stars including Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, Sting and Dire Straits singer Mark Knopfler.
The source added: “Their friends have suspected for a little while. The Earl’s assistant private secretary began making calls to prospective nannies.
“They are looking for specialist help after the birth and are making the arrangements well in advance.”
A friend of the couple, when asked about the news, said: “How did you find out?”
Nanny Claire, who lives in North Yorkshire, refused to discuss any job offer. She said: “I am afraid I cannot comment.”
The Queen was among the first of Edward’s family to know the good news.
Photos of Sophie on holiday two weeks ago had sparked speculation after her swimsuit revealed a slight bump.
Sophie, now thought to be 12 weeks gone, is being closely monitored by Royal obstetrician Marcus Setchell.
The countess collapsed at home with internal bleeding when pregnant with Louise in November 2003. She was rushed to nearby Frimley Park hospital and at one point was said to be just 20 minutes from death.
Her child was born four weeks prematurely by emergency caesarean section. She weighed just 4lb 9oz.
Louise had to be transferred almost immediately for specialist care at St George’s Hospital, 35 miles away in Tooting, South London. Sophie stayed in Frimley Park for another 16 days.
In December 2001 she suffered an ectopic pregnancy that left her critically ill. She lost five pints of blood and surgeons had to remove a fallopian tube.
Later she said: “I am obviously very sad but it was just not meant to be. There will be other chances.”
Louise was born after Sophie embarked on a course of IVF treatment.
The countess has never given up hope of having a second baby. She once said: “I’d like to have one of each.”
Friends of the couple say they are “completely besotted” with their daughter. Their pride was evident when the trio were photographed less than two weeks ago on holiday in Tuscany.
Holding on to her daughter’s reins, Sophie was seen strolling around a village square and chatting to a local woman who stopped to admire the tot.
But Louise’s health remains a concern. She has exotropia, a condition in which one eye turns outward.
Doctors say she should have corrective surgery before her second birthday.
Sophie is expected to continue with royal engagements but her diary shows long periods when she will not accompany her husband.
Her public duties resume following the summer break on September 3 when she and Edward hold a concert and reception at Bagshot Park to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The following week they go on a two-day official visit to Shetland.
Edward then carries out engagements alone. His wife will not rejoin him until September 20.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman would only say last night:“We can neither confirm nor deny that the Countess is pregnant.”

Congratulations!!

Well if it is true (and I have no doubts that it is), congratulations to the couple. This is wonderful news and I wish them all the best. I can understand why, they would like to keep it quiet for a while.

I think it's weird timing. They just announced they were trying. Why would they make that announcement if they were already pregnant?

I'm going to wait & see, but I'd be happy if they are already expecting.

Yay! I am happy for them. I hope it is true and it is a successful birth.

THanks Larzen.. Now i are 99% soure that Sophie is pregnant

I agree with you,Laminka, now we just need the Announcement from The Palace so we can completely 100% sure of Sophie's pregnancy.
Thanks you Larzen for the picture.

I had to laugh the other day. There was a repeat of the first espisode of The Vicar of Dibley. The parish counsel is bickering and discussing a previous visit to the parish by Prince Edward. Another character enters and says something disgusting. The "chair" David Horton says something to the effect of "after that annoying interlude" in response to the remark. The anal secretary writes down that Prince Edward's visit was an "annoying interlude." And all the characters argue about whether that was what was meant, and was Prince Edward's visit an annoying interlude. Very funny.

according to an article i read on the crownprincessmary board, buckingham palace didn't deny it but said it was "a private matter" for the couple.

Mother: Sophie Wessex with daughter Louise

Buckingham Palace has described as "purely speculative" a newspaper report that Prince Edward and his wife Sophie Wessex are expecting their second child. A spokeswoman said: "It is purely speculative and we are not putting out a statement. It's a private matter between the couple."
