Thanks for the image Anna! Love that umbrella.

Edward and Sophie don't appear to have any engagements for a while so I'm sensing a holiday with the kids as private schools are finished now. I'm guessing they are going to go on holiday as they will be busy with the Commonwealth Games at the end of the month.

Games start already at 23rd. I wonder why we don't have released any info on which days they will attend. Apart from 23rd for both of them, and closing on 3rd with Edward.

Earl of Wessex in France on 12th July - source Court Circular

The Earl of Wessex this morning departed Farnborough Airport, Hampshire, for France and was received upon arrival at Carpiquet Airport, Caen, Normandy, by Her Majesty's Ambassador to the French Republic (His Excellency Sir Peter Ricketts).

His Royal Highness later attended a Reception for the mayors of the local communes at the Mairie, Esquay-Notre-Dame.

The Earl of Wessex, Royal Honorary Colonel, The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, subsequently took the salute at the march past by the 43rd Wessex Division's Veterans at Hill 112, Caen, and this afternoon attended the Seventieth Anniversary Service to commemorate those who fell in the Battle for Hill 112 and laid a wreath.

His Royal Highness, Royal Honorary Colonel, The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, afterwards attended a Reception at the Salle des Fętes, Esquay-Notre-Dame

Still looking for pictures.

For those interested in the event there was also a commemoration of the events in England. Article and pictures

According to The Globe & Mail, Earl & Countess will visit Canada between 12-19 September, on behalf of DofE Award Scheme. It will include solo visits to Northern Ontario by Sophie, and Saskatchewan by Edward. It will be 36th visit of Earl's, and Sophie's 12.
I have updated my London post with pics, and few pics from Scene & Heard here:

I clicked on the link Anna, but am not seeing anything about Scene and Heard? I assume I won't be charged for looking at the link?
Lovely updated post BTW.

Ah, yes thanks Anna- it helps if one is on the right page!
I love the bottom 2 pictures- as always Sophie with kids is a magical combination. I really am surprised that Robert Hardy is not involved with this group- as something like this sounds right up his street.
Is HRH patron of the group for that matter?
I assume Anna that the newspaper site won't charge me for looking at the link?

No you won't be charged. No, she is not their Patron, though it was her 2nd visit.

Thanks. I think it would be a great patronage for her. We shall see...

Edward and Sophie love a trip to Canada don't they? Glad to see they are going again as they are good supporters for DoE award. I look forward to calling them the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, even though it would sadly mean the Queen and Philip were both gone.

WHAT!?! WHERE!?!

This is my neck of the woods in Canada and we haven't had a Royal Visit since the Waleses Visit in 1991. Hope there's more information soon.

I've been sick since last night, but this news has perked me up...For the moment that is. Mom just had to share her bug w/me....

This kind of sentiment is why I'm starting to think there is a problem with the way that royal tours of Canada are being carried out. I'm starting to think it would be better if we got treated a bit more like Australia in some regards, with fewer but longer tours overall, and an attempt to hit more of the country in each one.

ITA w/you and can't figure out why our Visits are done this way. It would make sense, and also boost exposure of the Royals in Canada, if our Visits were the same format as the Aussie/Kiwi ones. I often wonder if the fact we're closer in distance to the UK has anything to do w/it and if so, take it for granted it's easier to come to Canada, assume the Visits don't have to be that long.

Not sure if that's true or not, but something I have wondered.

My guess was right. Edward and Sophie are on holiday in Ibiza this week. The Daily Mail has an article and some photos but I'm on my phone and don't know how to link. Sophie looks gooooooood!
