If that's patronizing, get me a guy like that right away! You see too few of them practicing such manners nowadays.

I just think it's good manners, and doesn't indicate that women are inferior. I know plenty of men who do things like that and have very high respect for their wives.

William definitely had good role models when it came to good breeding. It's nice to see that good chivalry is not dead. Now, if your fiance has a brother/cousin./friend with similar habits, do send him my way. It's getting very tiresome dealing with men who slam doors in your face, especially when they see you approaching .

Amen to that! I'll be 'patronized' 24/7 then. Honestly, when did all Duke of Cambridge/Mr. Darcy/Mr. Knightley/etc. types disappear and were replaced by the types of Mr. Collins/Mr. Elton/Mr. Wickham/etc?

I'm not sure if anyone cares this may even be old news but I've been told there will be no more official appearances by the couple until William returns from the Falklands in the meantime though it is being said Kate will begin her solo appearances while her husband is away. Oh ya and I found this pic of William looks new to me is it? http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lx...nwu6o1_400.jpg

Sorry to say, my fiance is the only boy in his family. I would have suggested my brother as well a few years ago, but he is about to celebrate his first aniversary lol. I'll keep my eye out though lol.

I totally agree. I was just poking a bit of fun at all those nitpickers who felt that William was patronising Kate when he would guide her with a hand on her back etc etc.

Hi, everyone ... this is my first post at the Royal Forums. There was a dinner after the premiere, at which £300,000 was raised for the Forces In Mind Trust, which William and Kate (and Harry also, I believe) have only just begun backing. The purpose of the Trust is to aid veterans who are returning from the war, helping in their efforts to re-enter civilian life, in whatever areas they may need.

I didn't know that we're not going to see William and Catherine officially until he gets back from the Falklands. I'm assuming that this applies to Catherine's charity engagements too? As for the picture...not sure if it's a new one, or something made by photoshop. Something about it just doesn't seem 'real'. Again, please remember that this is coming from a person with an eyesight issue, so there is a huge chance that my assumptions are wrong.

Unfortunately, a lot of women do feel exactly that way when a man is solicitous and well-mannered toward women. I find it gentlemanly and very courteous.

Perhaps they are just not used to being with a well mannered man. :-)

I'd say that depends entirely on the "gentleman" and your relationship to him. Things I find sweet when my boyfriend does them would come off as patronizing and rude from a business associate.

I suppose it's all in the perspective, how you feel toward each other and what you find acceptable. How others see certain types of behavior is from their point of view. So probably Prince William can be perceived as well-mannered and courteous to Kate by some, and patronizing by others.

Very nice photo; they look like an advertisement for a sporting clothes company, complete with the requisite cuddly dog. I like her hand on his shoulder; a subtly affectionate gesture. And other body language: both are walking with the same stride with their right legs in unison. I guess they're making the most of their time together before William is sent abroad. I wonder when that will be?

Do we know when and who took the picture? They seem very relaxed about being photographed during a private stroll smiling at the camera - has it been officially released?

I love how the duke and duchess of Cambridge are so affectionate towards each other
