It is not an unusual thing, sadly. People think the chamber is empty when it is not, they think the gun is unloaded when it is not, that the safety is on when it is not. Plus, it's not unusual for law enforcement professionals to alter the trigger so that it is easier to pull. Many guns will fire if you simply drop them the wrong way. This is also the reason you hear so often about people shooting themselves in the thigh or foot - the gun is being grasped from its holster or randomly moved and - OOPS!

I have a relative who shot his vehicle by sliding his (he assumed unloaded) rifle in the case from the trunk. TWICE!

the police would not have been present at the house on protection duty unless there was someone to protect.

I have read all the reports available and William was on duty at RAF Valley and Catherine was not present at the SITE of the incident. My view on this is that she was in the house but not in the vehicle when the firearm was discharged.

Thats kind of dangerous though, especially within close range. Should someone check the guns to make sure they are in working condition? I would hate for a gun to fire out of the blue especially if someone is within close range, like the D and D. Not good.

The best Royal couple IMO. They seem to read each other's thoughts. Almost as if there is always some kind of private joke between them.
A great team indeed!

I think William's SAR scheduel make things difficult too.
It has been confirmed that we will not see William and Catherine at The Royal Albert Hall on Saturday. Nobody has said anything about Sunday.

I think that's what the Met Police's inquiry will seek to establish. One thing I will say is that police are not routinely armed in Britain (it's different in NI). Protection officers would obviously be armed, but we don't know how much experience this particular officer will have had in keeping the weapon on his person, if he were new to the PPO role.

Hearing gunshots is a pretty frightening experience when you don't know where it's coming from. As a child I heard, but didn't see, terrorists shooting members of the public in my hometown. It's a sound that stays with you.

All those attending The Fesitval of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall are fulltime working members of the royal family.

So? Both remembrance events are on a weekend, the events are planned almost a year in advance. William and Catherine attending the Cenotaph last year, they should really step up their game on events that do actually matter to this country.

They will be at The Cenotaph but it's my guess that full-time royals are the ones that attend the Festival of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall or else we would see William & Catherine there. It's just my opinion because no one seems to properly explain why they don't attend the Service at the RAH. I too think they should attend and I hope they will at some point.

I am sort of afraid to voice my thoughts on this subject because if I say what I really feel I will get it! BIG MISTAKE but time will tell!

I'm confused, if you don't wish to express your opinion why did you write this post? Kind of attention seeking.

I didn't 'jump' on you, I asked a simple question. You are free to express your opinion however you like, others are free to openly disagree. However making a post that adds nothing to a discussion makes no sense.

Why don't you simply state your opinion and do it politely? Then nobody will "jump on you".
