I wanted to go look at the Daily Mail article again to see what the fuss was about, but it looks like Femail took it off line. Luckily for us, whu.teamhighgrove.com put them on their site in Chelsy album.
Looking at them again more intently, I have some thoughts.
1) She's 21,22 and looks like she was drinking a lot at that party. When I was 21,22 I was still drinking like a fish and sometimes being sick
and I didn't even have Chelsy's social range or finances.
2) Chugging two champagne flutes must have been a joke. She looks pretty loaded in that pic and you know how the drunker you get, the more stupid your jokes are.
3) Showing your bum for the camera is a silly young girlish thing to do at a drunken party, but I'll bet the thing lasted about two seconds, before they were back up and laughing like hyenas.
I totally understand the view of Marengo because I agree that it's childish, stupid behavior. At the same time, however, I think it's pretty normal for many 20-something's to behave like idiots. There are some people who grow up faster, and by 20s they are not acting like this, but still plenty of people who act like that into their 20s. I was one of them of the dumb ones. When I see people that age nowadays, sometimes I can't even believe we belong to the same species.
Bear in mind also that Chelsy has come from an extremely cared-for existence. She has her tuition paid for and her father pays for her to have bodyguards and pays for her to live and eat, clothe herself. He no doubt pays for her manicures, pedicures, hair styles, and everything else. That leaves Chelsy with nothing to worry about except keeping a good Grade Point Average (or whatever it's called in South Africa and the UK). She doesn't have to go to a job to pay for anything, so when she is through with studying, what does she do? Sit around twiddling her thumbs? No, no no!
She goes to parties! She goes shopping, to coffee shops, to bars and drinks (too much probably, as these 20-somethings often do). Not having all of the worries common for less privileged people, she might mature a bit slower. I mean, she won't have to "grow up" as quickly as other people, so why would she? Lord, if I could have put off growing up, I think I would have done!
