The royal contingent included HM, DoE, C&C and Wills & Kate. Not sure if other members of the family were present.

I agree with you. I read a lot of tweets from various reporters who were at the event that Catherine was very charming, talkative, and poised. Not at all surprising. The Duchess of Cornwall has the reputation of being a good conversationalist, as do her husband and Prince William. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall, just so that I could listen to the all the conversations .

Thanks for the video. Catherine looked quite nice in the much criticized green dress and seems to deal well with having to make small talk to groups at these receptions. Funny to see the Queen touching up her lips stick. The press are a loud lot when you get them all together.

Prince Charles and Camilla stopped by very briefly at the reception as they had another formal engagement immediately after. There are lots of photos of them arriving at the next event.

Some interesting moments in this feed -

We now know the Queen carries her lipstick (or a lip balm) in her purse, and is not averse to doing a touch-up 'in public'.

Camilla is a very engaging conversationalist - about others, not herself - if I heard the content correctly.

The length of time William took to talk to each person in the first short receiving line was inordinate IMO. My impression is that he made it unwieldy for the people coming through behind him - and Catherine had to be escorted away in order to get the line moving again. Interesting. Especially given the efficiency that Charles and Camilla took after the Queen and Philip. EDIT: Oh, I see from the above post that they were purposely moving fast to get to another engagement.

Catherine clearly has the deadly mascara rimming her eyes still - no change. Her total look is one-note. She's created a 'look' and is not varying it. I wonder if 5 years down the road it will still be the same. I wonder if we'll ever see the mascara gone - or is it as has been suggested something permanent that has been applied.

There is a thread about William's 'suitability' to be king - I think based just on this, his ability to mix, meet and greet and appear to be having fun doing so - and having married a woman who is congenial to doing the same sort of thing graciously no matter that she's still being queried about aspects of her engagement at this point - I think William is very suitable, since this appears to be the shank of the royal 'job'. Curiously, I find William and Catherine not as interesting to watch as Charles and Camilla - or even the Queen and Philip - but I guess that's personal taste. I probably won't be around when William is king - if there is still a British Monarchy when his time comes.

Thanks for the video. I wasn't able to view it, but got a chance to hear some of the conversations (it took forever to load, and then the talking was ahead of the pictures, and got rather confusing).
