Once again, Princess Anne steals the show. Good for her.

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York and her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, as well as David Linley, Viscountess Serena Linley and their son Charles Armstrong-Jones attend a Thanksgiving Service for the life of their close friend James Wentworth-Stanley, 21 year old son of the Marchioness of Milford Haven, at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge on January 9, 2007 in London, England.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie look truly devastated. How sad. What happened to James Wentworth-Stanley?

James Wentworth-Stanley was found shot dead at his father Nicholas’s home after a family shoot. He is believed to have been on his own at the time. Police is investigating an 'unexplained death'.
James died just weeks after his birthday, where Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were present.

James was the son of Sarah's best friend and was extremely close to Princess Beatrice and especially Princess Eugenie.

How sad. It must be so difficult for James's family and from the look of the attendees at today's service, he was very much loved.

Sophie was not pictured and I couldn't find mention of her attending the Service, so I guess the answer is no, she wasn't there.

James Wentworth-Stanley was the son of Sarah's best friend, Marchioness of Milford Haven.
He was also a very close friend of Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

Sarah was on a US talk show today and she said that it was a suicide.

So cause of death has been stated? Or did she say that they thought it was suicide? How sad none the less...

From what I read today in the papers, there hasn't been an inquest yet. How stupid of Sarah to say that when there hasn't been an inquest.

The cause of death has yet to be established. Police is still investigating whether it was an accident or James commited a suicide.

FERGIE COMFORTS HER GIRLS AT EMOTIONAL MEMORIAL SERVICE

Her arm wrapped around her younger daughter, the Duchess of York comforted her girls as they attended the memorial service of one of their childhood friends. Princesses Beatrice, 18, and Eugenie, 16, wept as they joined other members of the royal family at a service for 21-year-old James Wentworth-Stanely.

The end of a Celtic tradition: The last gold miner in Wales

It was once a thriving industry, the supplier of choice for Royals in need of a wedding ring. But the principality´s stocks of the precious metal have now all but vanished.

Thank you for posting this milla Ca. :flowers: It really is sad that this is yet another tradition that is on it's way out, nicer that it is through natural causes this time, (sort of).

Yes, but it´s nice, that the last royal wedding rings of this gold miner are the rings of Charles&Camilla!

I don't think they will be the last wedding rings from Welsh gold for the royal family. They have 36 ounces of it, I wonder in they are troy or avoirdupois!

Does anyone know? :flowers:

the last don't was the edward and sophie's rings? that said the coverge of edward and sophie wedding in tv.
in a book said that the last was the diana ring from the same piece that were the rings of the queen, the queen mother and anne.,

As we have all learnt, the media does not always get it right.

From the article
In recent years, the wedding rings of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Duchess of York and Camilla Parker Bowles were made of the metal.
But the Queen's supply is running out. One piece of gold held by the Crown Jeweller Garrards & Co and mined at Clogau, not far from Gwynfynydd, is now little more than a sliver.

Another 36-ounce nugget was presented to the Queen by the British Legion in 1981 and was used for the Duchess of York's ring.

With 36 troy ounces they have still got a large enough nugget for a few more rings. If it is 36 avoirdupois ounces, more still! :flowers:

Burberry royal status under fire

An MP has called in Parliament for Burberry to lose its Royal Warrant if it goes ahead with the proposed closure of its Rhondda factory.

Burberry, which holds "by appointment" Royal Warrants from the Queen and the Prince of Wales, recently announced a 22% increase in revenue. But it plans to move production of polo shirts from Treorchy overseas - the company says to Asia or Europe, while the union claims it would be to China.

In the light of the situation at the factory, Mr Bryant has called on the Commons to review the way Royal Warrants are given to firms. He said: "The Prince of Wales insists there should be a strong environmental policy for a company to enjoy a Royal Warrant.

Royals are flush with our rare gold

THE 18-carat Welsh gold used for Royal wedding rings is now so scarce stocks could be sold out forever in days.
