The Princess Royal launches Catch22 charity network

HRH The Princess Royal, Will Young and Moira Stewart launch Catch22 charity Network

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal launched the Catch22 Network on Tuesday 20 July, all in aid of Catch22, the young people's charity that works in local communities up and down the county.

A host of supporters attended the networking event including BBC Newsreader Moira Stewart, singer Will Young, trustees, vice-presidents, academics, public figures, politicians, think tanks and young people.

The Catch22 Network launch was held at the Tate Modern and aims to bring together individuals with expertise in profile raising, fundraising, research, campaigning and influencing public policy.

Catch22 works with tens of thousands of young people in difficult situations to find solutions to their problems. The young people we help may not be in education, training or employment, young care leavers, young people at risk of offending and young offenders.

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, addressed the Catch22 Network and met young people whose lives have been turned around with the help of the charity.

One such young person is *Sarah Simpson (*not her real name) from Catch 22 Humberside Young People Floating Support Service in Yorkshire. Sarah was unemployed and felt socially isolated in the flat she shared with her young daughter when she came across Catch22. Sarah says: "Catch22 helped me to devise a support plan, move house and access help from other organisations. I'm now living in a home I like, working part-time and my self-esteem has grown." Sarah looks forward to the future and hopes to pursue a career as a social worker.

BBC Newsreader Moira Stewart interviewed four young people with similar stories as part of "My Catch22 Moment". Catch22 Ambassador, singer Will Young also showcased his support.

Will Young said: "Launching the Catch22 Network with Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal and Moira Stewart has been fantastic. As an Ambassador for the charity I've been lucky enough to see first hand the impact of Catch22's services on the lives of young people. The Catch22 Network will help the charity continue with its vital work in local communities across the UK."

Displays, films and photographs highlighting Catch22's successes were presented at the event.

Anne was recently interviewed by the BBC to mark her forthcoming 60th birthday. A brief profile is being aired tonight which includes interviews with Zara & Peter talking about their Mum.

My daughter Zara, the royal celebrity: Princess Anne, 60 on Sunday, opens her heart | Mail Online

She hails from a time when royalty was seen and not heard.
But Princess Anne has admitted that her own daughter is a celebrity – and said that these days, it ‘comes with the territory’.
Despite condemning the way the royal family has become ‘public property’, the Princess Royal said Zara, 29, had no choice but to accept a long list of lucrative sponsorship deals to support her horse riding career

I like the article. Thanks Lumut! :flowers:
In the pictures provided of Anne when she was younger, she looked an awful lot like Margaret. Still a very handsome woman. I was surprised to see how much of Anne is in Zara and how much Peter and Wills look alike.

i love that first stroy from the telegraph ^^^ - typical Anne

There has not been a big party to celebrate her birthday? No family gathering? How sad.

I believe that all the major celebrations were on the family cruise oh the Hebridian Princess not too long back. They celebrated Anne's 60th and Andrew's 50th then.

I see, Osipi. Thanks for your thoughts. Still a bit odd, a belated birthday party I know, but preliminary? I was hoping for pictures, you know. However, hope she had a great day.

cows - a bit funny in my eyes..;)

That's funny: The woman in the backround, of the last picture, is wearing a constellation of clothes that Anne often wears as well :D cute

She is just dam_ed royal, no doubt about it!

The woman is her Lady-in-Waiting and have seen her on a lot of activities with the Princess Royal. I really don't know who it is, or her name, but it is certainly a 'Anne-like' lady. I saw her on an evening engagement with the Princess once in a green skirt and a bright fuschia jacket; completely not to be worn together. So, indeed, the two ladies match well! But I like Anne!

I like the dress. It's very classic. Reminds me of the Prada Diana used to wear. Cut well and classic, never goes out of style.
