First of all because I'm relatively new you must apologized me if this topic already exist.

The idea is search for old royal pictures, mostly white and black or sepias. I have a nice collection.

What do you thing?.

I think it is a splendid idea, though it might be difficult to find pictures online & to judge where 'old' stops and 'new' starts.
Anyway, here a picture of Princess Juliana of The Netherlands, iceskating in 1917:

Now you mention it: yes (didn't see that before). Wilhelmina loved ice skating. As a little girl she did it secretly, as her father didn't approve of women on the ice (her mother luckily did).

Wonderful pictures! I especially like the first one. Does anyone know why they're holding the bar? Could it be the two women on the end are experience (i.e. won't fall!) and they hold it so the girl won't fall, as a way to learn to skate?

Why did Alfonso die so young? Also, I'm beginning to understand why Juan Carlos of Spain was such a ladies' man in his younger days! Very dashing!!
