circa 1885: Russian Royals taking the air on the Empress's estate in Petrograd are, from left to right: Prince Rostislav Alexandrovitch, Prince Vasili Alexandrovitch, their grandmother Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia (1847 - 1928), and a Countess serving as Lady-in-Waiting to the Empress. The Empress was formerly Princess Dagmar of Denmark, sister to Queen Alexandra of Great Britain. The princes are sons of Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovitch, sister to Tsar Nicholas II. 1885:eek:  :D :D :D :D
Sorry, but Vasili was born in 1907:p :D , so the picture must be taken at least 30 years later than 1885;)

It is a pity the Faberge pic is blurred obscurring the beautiful work he did.

Wow, great information about the royal family and beautiful images shared here in this thread. I like all, great work keep it up..

There is a much better photo of Queen Margrethe wearing her emeralds in colour. Try google images.

Can anyone put names to these European monarchs in this image that looks to be dated sometime in the 1860's? I can point out the obvious ones (Victoria of UK; Victor Emmanuel II of Italy; Napoleon III of France; Isabella of Spain, Pope, etc.). But some I'm having some difficulty naming.

Thanks!

Back row from left; King Christian IX of Denmark, Kaiser Wilhelm I of Prussia, unknown, then Tsar Alexander II of Russia. I am not 100% sure of the others.
In front of Queen Victoria is a young King Ludwig II of Bavaria. In front of him is his brother King Otto of Greece before they kicked him out. Or it could be a young prince Willem of Denmark who became King Georgios of Greece. So either Otto or Willem.
To the Popes left and opposite Ludwig a young King Leopold II of Belgium.

Today is the 125th anniversary of the birth of Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna, the eldest child of the last Emperor and Empress of Russia.
When she was one year old, she visited her great-grandmother Queen Victoria at Balmoral.
On the right: the Prince of Wales.

According to this website, Grand Duchess Olga was the only one of her siblings to meet her great-grandmother. Apparently, Empress Alexandra was one of Queen Victoria's favourite grand-daughters.

I's never seen that photo before and had also forgotten that Grand Duchess Olga was a great-grand daughter Queen Victoria :previous:

The Royal Collection Trust has released a photo of the British, Danish and Russian Royal Family members "either preparing for or posing after a cycle ride in 1895" on #WorldBicycleDay.

For #WorldBicycleDay we're sharing this photograph of Danish, British and Russian royal cousins either preparing for or posing after a cycle ride in 1895. Most of the figures with bicycles are grandchildren of King Christian IX of Denmark. Second and fifth from the right respectively are Princess Victoria of Wales and her sister, Princess Maud, who were the daughters of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) and Alexandra, Princess of Wales (later Queen Alexandra), who was Christian IX’s daughter.
