Princess Laetitia Murat

Can anyone here provide any info on the life of this French royal lady who initially married an American from a very prominent Boston family (Charles Codman Jr.) and after being widowed married a de Lubersac of France?

If Jackie O's sister, Caroline Lee Bouvier Radziwill, is included, so must be her daughter-in-law Carole Ann DiFalco. Carole married Prince Anthony Radziwill, son of Prince Stanislas Radziwill and Lee Bouvier, in 1994. (As a member of the Radziwills, one of Central Europe's noble families, Anthony Radziwill was customarily accorded the title of Prince and styled His Serene Highness, although he never used it. He descended from King Frederick William I of Prussia, King George I of Great Britain, and King John III Sobieski of Poland). She was still married to him at the time of his death in 1999. He died less than a month after his 1st cousin JFK Jr. Carole has remained unmarried since Anthony ' s passing.

Charles Wayne Knecht, 1st cousin once removed of Princess Grace of Monaco, married Baroness Christine - Alix de Massy (the youngest of Princess Antoinette of Monaco's 3 chidren) on 14 FEB 1972. They divorced in 1976. She died in 1988 at the age of 37 from leukemia.

Her whole name (and the lack of citations) is odd. I mean, Wikipedia claims her full name was Anna Audrey Emery Reykariw, yet provides no citation at all, does not explain the Anna, and does not explain where Reykariw comes from (her father and brothers all having the last name Emery, and neither of her husbands having the last name Reykariw).

"Anna" being her Russian name doesn't make sense either. The way the Russian renames typically work is that the wife was given a Russian first name (or had her first name Russi-fied), and a patronymic surname. Anna certainly would have been a Russian first name, but her patronymic surname would have been Ivanovna, not Reykariw.

Ish, Thank you for the information. I understand that the Ivanovna comes from John since Ivan is the Russian equivalent of John.

"De Amerikaanse prinses" about

Allene,
Countess Pavel Pavlovitch de Kotzebue
née Tew
formerly Mrs Theodore R. Hostetter,
formerly Mrs Morton Colton Nichols,
formerly Mrs Anson Wood Burchard,
formerly Princess Heinrich XXXIII Reuss zu Köstritz
(1872-1955).

Allene was -by marriage- related to the Orange-Nassaus and to the Lippes: her fourth husband Prince Heinrich XXIII Reuss zu Köstritz was a grandson to Princess Sophie of the Netherlands. His two brothers-in-law were married to a Princess of Lippe (the House of Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands).

On itself Allene had relation to Prince Bernhard, she knew him from her Reuß zu Köstritz period. As Countess Pavel Pavlovitch de Kotzebue (her fifth spouse) she resided in a grand house in Paris and as she had motherly feelings for Prince Bernhard, she made him her protégé. For Prince Bernhard "Aunt Allene" was more than welcome. Thanks to him he, a simple stagiaire at IG Farben in Paris, could afford the lifestyle of a grand seigneur....

The American Princess had two fabulous mansions, one in Suisnes (near Paris, dept. Seine-et-Marne) and one in Cap d'Ail (at the Rivièra, dept. Alpes-Maritimes). The last one has salons kept intact from the death of Allene. Nothing has been changed in the interior and as all blinds were closed and no one entered her rooms for decades, the fabulous interiors are original and still as new. This became visible when a Dutch TV-show host (Ivo Niehe) visited Cap d'Ail with the author Annejet van der Zijl.

As far as I know, yes.

Chris O'Neill, who has a dual citizenship (US and UK) married princess Madeleine in 2013. He and Estelle Manville are the only americans I know of that has married into swedish royalty.

Okay, so I found her page on the Peerage, which I think is a bit more trustworthy than Wikipedia.

There's no mention of the Reykariw surname, which leads me to think that the name appears out of wiki-spam. The name Anna does pop up, and according to the Peerage it was her actual first name, she just usually went by her middle name Audrey. Her style (according to the Peerage) while she was married to Grand Duke Dimitri was HSH Princess Audrey Romanovskya-Ilynskya.

Under old style of Russian Royals she probably would have been HSH Princess Anna Ivanovna Romnovskya-Ilynskya, but the marriage was morganatic and occurred after the fall of the Romanovs and didn't happen in France, there isn't really reason for that to have happened.

If we're being picky Estelle Manville didn't marry royalty since Folke, although son of a prince, was a Count of Wisborg and not a member of the Royal family

We should always be picky, and you're right, although I think that most people would consider him part of the royal family at the time of the marriage.
