I was reading somewhere that before Prince Rainier of Monaco married Grace Kelly there was some talk that he was a purposed to have an arranged marry to Marilyn Monroe. A sort of publicity stud to get the Prince and Monaco out there but she turned the offer down. But could you imagine Marilyn Monroe in Princess Graces position.

I've heard a lot of people say they wish Delta Goodrem and Prince William were a couple!

Delta is pretty, she is much prettier than Kate. So why not.

She is very pretty. I love her music too I don't know what to think of Kate. She's cute, but obviously I know nothing about her. William certainly seems to like her though!

I think that nowadays most people can be royals, as long they have a clean profile. An actress, model or a singer would be accepted. If they would be loved or not... it depends on their personality and the way they behave with the public.

Do you all remember, WAAAAAAY back when, when there was talk of Prince William dating Britney Spears? Granted, it was all a rumor, but just think about how odd that would be!!

Princess Grace seemed to represent Monaco well.
A great deal would depend upon the public perception of the person. Someone who lives their life morally and with dignity will be easily accepted. Those who are being photographed in compromising situations, probably would have a more difficult time of it. No matter who the person is, the pressure upon them to represent their new family must be extraordinary. Perhaps the experience being in the public eye as an entertainer would help... |

It depends on the reputation of the performer. Nowadays Royal houses seem to be letting up a bit about marriage between royals and commoners. I personally think it would be great to have a succesful, popular artist join a royal house, especially if they are more famous than the prince/ss in question. Luxembourg is a good example, not many people even know it exists, imagine a famous artist marries into this family? The country will instantly attract attention and become a tourist destination.
Another example would be an artist marrying into an unpopular monarchy and through their career they might be able to restore lost affection from the people. |

I dont think it would be a gain to for example for the danish royal house if Frederick or his brother had married an hollywood actress. They might get attention from people in other contries but I think they would loose a lot of respect in the danish public. Hollywood just have too much a smell of greediness and attention seeking (not saying all hollywood actors are greedy, but thats how it's often perceived in a population where there are very few truly rich people.) We also have something in Denmark called the Jantelov, which means that people often don't take well to other people who stick their nose out too much, so attention seeking is'nt look mildly upon either. I think it would be hard for the public to take them serious and the news papers would certainly have a field day, though young people might be more open towards it than elderly people, if it was one of the teenage idols. An actress or a musician outside of hollywood itself however might be accepted, all depending on the person herself and the kind of art they were involved in. Also I don't see any problem in, for example an classical artist or a jazz artist, still making music after they're married. Queen Margrethe herself is a painter/artist and has been for many years. Any kind of PR like musicvideos would be banned though, I think. Also there would have to be no kind of political undertones in any art a royal might make. Danish law says so. If Frederick wanted to make a movie, I see no problem, as long as he kept away from any sort of political statements. Whether thats fair or not.

I do not know how the French are accepting Carla Bruni Sarkozy coming out with her latest album? Perhaps our French friends with a first hand experience can give us some insight as to how subjects of a Monarchy would accept a diva of any sort as next in line to inherit the throne.
