Perhaps this has already been addressed, and I am sorry if I missed it. If a non-royal marries a royal (i.e. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark), does she receive her own crest, or does she use her husband's coat of arms? If she does receive one, who determines the design?

please, forgive me for my ignorance! but...would anyone knows that if it possible to create your own coats of arms as a comoner and be recognize or valid????

It depends. Generally a woman who is non-armigerous (does not have a coat of arms) would take her husband's arms. A woman who is armigerous would have hers impaled sinister with his (the shield will be split vertically, with the left side--that is, the right as you are looking at it--having her arms, and the right side having his).

Depends on where you live. In the USA there is no heraldic authority--people can do whatever they like. In most other countries, and definitely in those with reigning monarchies, it is often illegal--or, at least, in exceedingly poor taste--to assume any arms to which you are not entitled by right of either inheritance or issuance of Letters Patent.

The arms of the POW are:

The Prince's own coat of arms are those of the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom with a label for difference. The version used everywhere but Scotland is blazoned Quarterly (by quarters):
1st and 4th, Gules three Lions passant guardant in pale Or (England). (The first and fourth quarters display the three lions, representing England.) 2nd quarter is Or a lion rampant within a Double Tressure floury counterflory Gules (Scotland). (The second quarter, displays a red lion in a yellow field with a double border coloured red, this represents Scotland.) 3rd, Azure a Harp Or stringed Argent (Ireland). It is definitely referencing the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall. The images contain the standard of the Duke of Rothesay and Camilla as the Duchess of Rothesay, the standard of the Duke of Cornwall, the emblem of the Prince of Wales and elements of the personal coat of arms of both Charles and Camilla.

Referencing, perhaps.

But it's still not his arms, and is therefore incorrect; he inherits his arms from his mother (due to her status as Sovereign), and therefore uses them with a label for difference.

His arms are a little different from differenced royal arms. (Link) Several Welsh elements are added, as well as that Cornish thing with the dots at the bottom.

Everything on the picture is from his coat of arms (either as PoW or DoR), just strewn about as if they exploded.

Thanks LS! I have been looking for this crest for a while I wasn't able to find it! I suppose it must also be the crest of Princess Irene and of Princess Margriet, and maybe for HM after an evenbtual abdication.

I am still wondering about the crest for the van Vollenhovens though, or for the grandchildren of the Queen by her two youngest sons. I don't suppose the RVD will include them on the Dutch royal website though.
