She had been using Botox before, but this time it's not just Botox regarding Queen Silvia but surgery, and it does make a big difference... It's obvious that she had a face lift during her recent trip to Brazil, and the overall characteristics of her face have changed as a result. The shape of her face is different now as well due to the hairline being set back and sitting a bit higher - a frequent side effect of a face lift, just look at Princess Michael.
In Princess Michael's case, I actually like the result, but I'm having a hard time getting used to Queen Silvia's 'New face'. The fact that she feels she needs this is her own private business IMO, Queen or not, so I don't condemn her at all, it's just that the whole issue makes me feel rather sad...

Silvia does not look like herself anymore. Terrible. I wonder why she feels that she has to go down this path instead of aging with grace since she has been natural beauty. I hope her daughters will learn a lesson and stay away from plastic surgery.

is it a face lift or perhaps a lot of injectable "fillers" and botox and perhaps a serious peeling?

Whatever it is it looks strange. Ignore the hair and the tiara - the face could belong to Laura Bush.

Laura Bush, oh my Gaawwwwd... it's terrible that mentioning her actually makes sense...
But I do imagine that the whole wonderful concept of 'aging gracefully in the public eye' is so much more easily said than done, especially if you (unlike that President's wife) once looked like THIS:

i'm with boris the whole thing makes me sad. it's a false beauty the media sells "stay young, stay perfect" but they don't tell you how airbrushed the photos are!!! i was blessed growing up with women that aged gracefully and showed me how beauty comes from within, with age comes wisdom and grace- know and accept yourself others will too. my mother was just as beautiful at 80 with grey hair as her 20's when she modelled. we talked about plastic surgery once (i wanted to change my nose) she asked me wouldn't i feel funny looking in the mirror and seeing someone else looking back? what was wrong inside i thought fixing something on the outside would solve. i understand being in the spotlight must be hard watching yourself age in photographs but imo it's better than the scary masks some of these people are ending up with OMG theres websites dedicated to bad plastic surgery how awful i'd rather look my age than a weird cartoon.

i think it is very diffiuclt for anyone who had been very pretty in her young years to see at the mirror and see yourself old , and this is to anyone royal or not, and in this century we are able to use some plastic surgery to try to keep this youth, if you get a good doctor, it is done very natural, the problem is there are out there some docotors that destry faces. I understand Queen Silvia, apecially for her that it is in the public eyes all the time and I congratulate her for having the courage to do it not eveybody has the courage to do under the knife!
I think some of the royal would need some touch ups and some botox like Maxima, I think she has too many wrinles for her age, if she looks like this today I cannot imagine how she would look at Queen Silvia age!

Why for the world do you want to have her plastic surgery???
Could you just imagine that she feel satisfied with how she looks like. Her husbands loves her, her children don't care, the Dutch people admire her. That are all reasons, why she likes to be how she is. And it doesn't matter how she looks like when she is in Silvia's age as long as she is satisfied and as long as she loves herself. And I wouldn't care if she looks like her own greatgrandmother as long as she has substance and has a good character. Nothing is worse in the role as Queen or future Queen then being superficial. Maxima is almost 40, so it is normal to have little wrinkles, mostly around your eyes. And she hasn't sooo much of it.
So I don't understand you. I don't understand why anybody would advise sombody at all to inject chemicals into the face or have a operating intervention, if it is not medicaly nessecary. This OPs are not a joke. There are so many risks.

That's a nice theory, but completely unrealistic for many women.

Yeah sure beauty is a two way street -- meaning it comes from the inside, but it is the outside that has more "weight" -- but many women these days don't fall for that theory.

I don't see what the big deal is. Furthermore, if a woman decides to have some major work done or have fillers injected every seven months, why should anyone preach to them or rather care? It's not your body.

If a woman feels better about herself by having Botox or Juvederm stuffed into her nasal folds as well as lips more power to her. If a woman feels more confident having the tip of her nose reshaped or by having 400cc implants why should it irritate you? You're not in her shoes.

One can dislike it, but to lecture as well as gossip about a woman who does is simply pointless. Not every single woman on this planet ages gracefully (or was decent looking to begin with.) Those who are, are a rare breed.

Yes, I am pro-plastic surgery and proud of member of that club.

By the way, this post is not specifically directed towards anyone in particular.

I do not advise her, I don't even dare! Just if it was me I would have some botox if I was having all those wrinkles, of course if she is happy with herself as she is, she doesn't need to do anything but all the royals are like hollywood stars in the eyes of the media and photographers all the time, and I am sure they want to look the best that they can

i didn't mean to sound "preachy" it was my opinion you have to understand once my doctor said cancer, i got out of the shallow end of the priority pool and never looked back. as someone beautiful at 20 i consider myself fabulous at 50, heck i didn't even think i looked bad bald and have no regrets not having reconstruction (it would have involved over 5 surgeries ( if i'm going to die who wants to waste time on that) is it ego or a secure self image i don't have a clue but it's helping me over some bad patches and for that i have to thank God and my parents.
imo queen elizabeth and queen margrethe are more beautiful than anybody with their altered, pulled, plastic unnatural faces. i stand by my opinion it's sad and studies have shown there is a higher rate of suicide amoung plastic surgery patients and it all tracts back to trying to fix the outside when the inside needs the work. i'm not talking about botox, peels, etc that make you feel, ie: look better i'm talking going under and drastically altering your appearance and then wondering why people are appalled at how different you look and of course they talk about it -especially when you look like the joker in a batman movie.

i certainly mean no disrespect to queen sylvia, she seems to be a lovely woman inside and out, i admire her and think she's beautiful and doesn't need any more work.

what surprises me is that they must know who the best plastic surgeons are and still it is a mess. Catherine Deneuve must have had plastic surgery and she looks all right. Isabelle Huppert is 54 and does not seem to have changed since her early twenties.Isabelle Huppert Photos

This testimony was very interesting also, because she spoke about other members of the MRF and also about other royals (queen rania, queen noor,…etc) that her aunt met in the wake of the MRF

I must say it's the most ridiculous testimony about a supposed friend of a royal, that salma of Morocco had plastic surergy...., it's very easy to fabric rumours when we don't have any proofs, then if it was true, why she doesn't look much different than before with all those supposed procedures, or why nobody found pictures to show her before look like it's the case for queen Rania.

Her ears eyes and lips are exactly the same, when we see her pics when she was still an unkonwen student, as for her freckles she still has them as we can see on her most recent pictures.

I am with Boris on this one. He before and after picture of Queen Silvia is a perfect example of what it means when someone becomes a caricature of themselves.

What exactly is the point of trying to look 35 when everyone knows you are in your 60s?

I did not mean to say that Queen Silvia has become a caricature of herself - I simply tried to voice a feeling of sadness about both her obvious personal need to go ahead with surgery and the result being not too satisfactory.
But a caricature of herself she has not become, IMHO - you can see examples of those on the link provided by bbb. I still consider Queen Silvia to be a beautiful woman, hoping at the same time that this recent surgery may be her last one.

Sorry, Boris, did not mean to put words in your mouth.

She is a beautiful woman, no doubt, if she does not stop with all this surgery she will start to look like someone who merely resembles the Queen Silvia we know and love.

Even the effects of facial surgery subside gradually as time goes by. Let's just hope that this was it for Queen Silvia and let's look forward to this great lady at 70 with a fair amount of wrinkles back where they belong...

An article by The Gueardian:

Quote:
The mystery of the eternally youthful Queen of Sweden

Gwladys Fouché
Monday November 26, 2007
The Guardian

Ah, Sweden. Fabled heartland of the world's most liberated women, where the female citizenry breathe the pure air of equality, social progress and all-round good sense. No wonder, then, that here the most fortunate of queens wears a smile that grows ever wider. So remarkably wide has the smile grown, however, that even the normally gushing royal-watching magazine Svensk Damtidning has lost patience and started dropping caustic hints that, when it comes to Swedish womanhood, someone is letting the side down - and that person is none other than Her Majesty.

The Nobel prize ceremony on December 10 will soon ensure that all eyes are on Stockholm. And on cue, Queen Silvia, 63, has emerged from her regular autumn holiday in South America a new woman: "Wrinkles of worry, tiny lines, tired eyes - they've all magically disappeared. To achieve such an astonishing result, the queen must surely have had some advanced spa treatment," croons Svensk Damtidning.
