I don't consider for example the royal palace of "Touarga" in Rabat as a palace of the king,it's a palace of all the moroccan royal family which all members can stay in,and the same with the other palaces in the other imperial cities,Marrakesh,Fez and also Tetoun...,those are all palaces heritated by whole the MRF from the Alaouite Monarchy, not only KM6.

KM6 has for his own two palaces, the old one which is quit a villa in Rabat where he lived when he was still single, and the new one in "Dar Essalam" Rabat, which he built last year,as he said in interview in "Paris Match",the old villa was small for the new growing family after the birth of the little prince My Hasan and after his marriage.

Yes of course, there's many peolple who don't feel comfortable to talk about their wealth and from where they got it.

I was just replying to Amina about her question about the wealth of the JRF,as they even don't publish and keep secret the amount of civil lists and their salaries, thing which is made public by most royal houses.

I also have been said that the late king Hussein made himself owner of all lands in Jordan which don't have owners, technically, otherwise when it's like that, the state become the owner of those lands not the King or the State's leader.

An interesting article about the war of money within the Brunei royal family, the Sultan changed the constitution and made himself untouchable

http://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2006/03/09/brunei/

The Sultan of Brunei has taken a surprising step in the ongoing legal wrangles with his estranged brother. Prince Jefri Bolkiah will find it difficult to appeal a ruling ordering him to hand over billions of pounds worth of properties and jewels after his sibling declared himself infallible.

Newly-released legal papers show that the Sultan rewrote his homeland's constitution 18 months ago in order to give himself the same status as the Pope. "His Majesty the Sultan ... can do no wrong in either his personal or any official capacity," reads the document.

"No person shall publish or reproduce in Brunei or elsewhere any part of proceedings ... that may have the effect of lowering or adversely affecting directly or indirectly the position, dignity, standing, honour, eminence or sovereignty of His Majesty the Sultan."

I just picked up the latest issue of People and it talked about the wealth a few families and their worths:

British royals: $506 Million
Saudi Royals: $25.5 billion
Luxembourg royals: $4.3 Billion
Brunei royals: $13 Billion
Monaco royals: $2.6 Billion

I figure this bit of info might help towards determining which royal/aristocrat has the most money.

In the issue of WHO (or People in the US - WHO in Australia) that grim_lady mentioned, it also says that Prince Harry is worth more than Prince William because the Queen Mother left Harry more money than William because Harry will never be the Prince of Wales. Harry is reportedly worth $60 million and William $52 million. The article also says that the Queen has $50.8 million worth of art and furniture (that's a lot of furniture!!) Also, the Sultan of Brunei owns 360 Rolls-Royces , 200 polo ponies and a 18,600 square metre palace with 257 bathrooms !!!!! According to the article, the Grimaldis of Monaco are worth $3.5 billion (I think that's in Aussie dollars, because the amounts are different in grim_lady's post), and that Prince Albert's son Alexandre Coste, is by French law entitled to half of his father's $2.7 billion fortune. And apparently, Andrea, Princess Caroline's son, counts collecting Swatch watches among his hobbies...and that he and sister Charlotte party at a nightclub called Jimmy'z, where a bottle of beer costs $60. King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabi owns the world's longest yatch, which stands at 147 metres long, and is worth $146 million, which by my calculations is just under $1 million per metre

Most royal families get money from the government of their country, which comes from the tax of the residents of that country. Others, like the Grimaldis, get money from casinoes and other holdings they have in their country and other countries. Many royal famillies also have a considerable amount of real estate (the Grimaldis own a quarter of Monaco), which they get money from as well

Hope that helps!!:)

Well technically speaking, Queen Elizabeth II owns all the land in the UK. It's not a situation unique to Jordan.

$250million is still an excessive and obscene amount of money for a monarch of a 3rd world country to be spending. Especailly when the family has a private wealth of billions.

I cannot even imagine the uproar and outrage if QEII was revealed to spend that much money per annum!

What I don't get are the differences between these 3:

How can Harald have so much and the other 2 so less. I mean, a century ago Norway and Sweden were one. And when they split the norwegians wanted a danish prince. Even if you assume a rather big dowry for Maud, the difference is a bit too much, isn't it? How big could the dowry have been anyway back in the day, around 1900? Then you have Märtha who was swedish. If we go by Carl Gustav's alleged fortune, Märtha's dowry couldn't have been much. And after her we have Sonja, who probably didn't bring in millions. Are we to assume that the norwegian consultants are so much better than the swedish and danish ones? That doesn't add up, IMO.

If he or the family breeds ponies, too, those aren't that many. There are lots of non- billionaire breeders with more ponies/ horses.

yes and technically, Canada's "Crown Lands" belong to Queen Elizabeth as well. I believe the same goes for some of the other commonwealth nations.

I agree. Im totally surprised by this figure as well!
I'd never have guessed as much from the moroccan royals' lifestyle.

That is a lot of polo ponies by anyone's standards. They are very lucky.

It's not just her dowry, but also Maud's inheritance that enters the picture. But as mentioned above, it is purely guessing.

Well these are just figures of speculations, it think it's hard to find out exactly how much the Scandinavian monarchs and Royal Familes are worth (for example they might own unique historic collections or pieces which have no official set values). In Sweden for example, when the press lists the personal fortunes of the Royal Family, they often just use the official money fortune - and not much more than that. Sometimes they have tried to put a value to known assets such as real estate and cars, but there's so much more than that which we really don't have much insight too.

In this matter it was about the private fortunes of the Scandinavian monarchs. When it comes to the funding allocations from the State however, I think the Swedish, Danish and Norwegian monarchies all have good deals with the States.

It all depends on the actual breeding of the horse. A good stable of Polo ponies can be worth many millions. It's the difference between owning a cloudy 1ct Diamond with a basic cut, set in Silver ring and a 10ct, perfectly clear, well cut Diamond set in Plantinum ring.:)
