Poor CP Mary! All she said was that she didn't want her children raised by nannies. That's entirely different from having any nanny at all. Of course the little prince will have someone to look after him when mommy and daddy go off on official business. CP Mary just meant that she wanted her and CP Frederik to be there a lot to raise their own children with only SOME assistance.
On the same subject - I think CP Frederik has fussed and he doesn't have much right to do so. I think the media has over-hyped his comments about having nannies around all the time. We must remember that his mother assumed the throne when he was only 3! Most other monarchs have the benefit of waiting until their children are much older before they must leave them more and more often for official duties. I too was wondering who the lady was that little Princess C-A was talking to at Alexia's baptism. C-A was SOOOOOO cute that day! As for Marie-Chantel of Greece...yeah... the woman has a lot of nannies. But I'm not a fan of hers anyway, so I guess no matter what she does I still wouldn't approve. Haha! |

Have there ever been any royal mothers who have not used nannies ? I would think that due to their schedules a child minder is necessary.

MC-of Greece have hires more nanny because her 4 children plus infant baby to watch the children i understand why she wanted to hires more nanny but she would have approve from governament? or his in-laws? or Royals mothers can allowed to more hires Royals nannies because the mothers really busy to do includes banquet, public engagement, etc.

i also can understand why marie chantal has hannies: 4 children can't be easy to look after, and i guess she and pavlos may want sometimes to take time for themselves! if she can pay for 2 or 3 full time nannies and if this doesn't mean the children will be raised by them, i see no problem in it.

Personally I think it seems excessive to have that much help. I think one or even two nannies is okay, but why have so many kids if you pass them off to nannies? Plus Maria Olympia, Konstantine and probably even Achilleas are all in school now that they would only be home for a few hours after school through the evenings. Only Odysseas would need much help if Marie Chantal had work related to her clothing business or other socialite events to attend. |

I think I recall somewhere reading that she had only one or two nannies. She is in a situation comparable to Marie Chantal's in that she has four children, three of whom are all in school (though Miguel like Achilleas is probably only in school half a day), and Irene would be like Odysseas who would need full time care being so young. Cristina and Inaki both work as do Pavlos and Marie Chantal. Cristina also performs the occasional royal duty. Every situation is different of course, but it's the closest measurement I can think of rather than comparing Marie Chantal's lives to the rest of our lives, which is of course vastly different. I have an aunt who has four kids and she and my uncle both work. She had them in daycare and got flexible work hours so that she could be at work for 5 in the morning but be home in time to pick the kids up from school and have the evening with them. She was definitely exhausted but aren't most parents? |

Daycare and babysitters are for us and nannies for the wealthy. That doesn't mean she couldn't spend the time most parents would spend working, with her children. Either her children are extremely difficult to raise or she doesn't like dealing with their needs in too much detail. The only other explanation is that she has the nannies in shifts - meaning 2 work at night and the other 2 in the daytime?
