Royal intimacy

I want to know why the royal house demanded to the princess Diana, to be able to marry the prince Carlos, be a virgin. Logically, I believe that, of all the princesses at present, except, probably, Matilde of Belgium, all have had past.

I want to know if all the princes males had lovers before their marriage, especially, the young princes inheritors. Does someone know?

In a word, yes. Yes, I would be very surprised if the heirs haven't.
Prince Albert of Monaco, of course, has been intimate at least twice.
Haakon and MM lived together before they were married, so... yeah...
The only one who might not have would be Guillaume of Luxembourg. But then again....

1. didn't his younger bro had a kid and got married recently? that speaks volumes about the "premarital relationships" in the men of this family
2. wasn't he linked to Pia Haraldsen? she doesn't strike me as the "virginal type" either

I also read in another forum that PMarry of Denmark had a boyfriend and lived with him for seven years, and then they split up,and that she spoke publicly about him when she got engaged to the CPrince.

Totally true. And I think that is very normal, all the princesses had normal live before metting a prince. So they had normal relationships and living together and everything that comes with that:

She was 26 when she married Philippe in 1999. They had met three years earlier at a tennis match.

I don't think we can count on any of the heirs, or for that matter, any other royal to be virgins. In this day and age, that is viewed as uncommon, or whatever. No, Pia doesn't look like a virgin, I agree.

When Lady Diana Spencer got engaged to Prince Charles it wa subject to her passing the virginity test. HM Queen Elizabeth insisted that Prince Charles chould marry a virgin.

But it was well known that both the late Diana, Princess of Wales's elder esisters were virgins when they married in the seventies.

I think that in this day and age it will be hard to find a "virgin" bride if the bride is over 26 no? Princess Diana was 19 when she was engaged- it will be hard nowadays to find that...IMO I really don't think that the Swedish royal children, the English boys or the older Luxembourg chiledren are what you would call...sexually innocent or inexperienced??

We are also talking about a whole generation passing between the marriage of Diana and the marriages of the current European Crown Princes. In addition, Diana was the first girl to marry a Crown Prince in the generations between Beatrix, Sofia, etc. and the current generation.
There were no comparable marriages to hers at that time. And so, the mores/expectations were still a hangover from the previous generation, with QEII having no other examples to look to. ...and being rather conservative anyway, she stuck to the tried and true "virgin" line -- although IMO that whole episode of Diana's uncle declaring she was shown to be a virgin on a medical exam is probably exaggerated -- I imagine the family had a great, good laugh over that one behind the scenes. Not saying that Diana wasn't a virgin, but she was, afterall, a very funloving young woman and that would be a pretty oldfashioned declaration even for 1981. So, the expectations now, I think, are just different.

Was Sarah a virgin when she married Andrew? Also, don't these women marrying crown princess have to pass a fertility test? How embarrasing is it to have your personal health (such personal health!) on the news?! I can just see it now, "All arrangments for the up-coming wedding of Crown Prince Bob can now resume as it has been proven that Miss Sally is indeed a virgin and fertile, therefore guaranteeing an heir will be produced for the throne." or something like that...

Do the royal houses still do this to any possible future Crown Princess? I thought I had heard something about a fertility test being done on CPMary...?

I think it was highly unlikely Sarah was since she had, had quite a fling with Paddy McNally. And I don't think all royal houses would expect this anymore -- look at some of the ages of the CP's -- it's a bit unlikely the virginity tests could confirm what they were looking for.

I believe she had lived with a man before her marriage. Two of her exes were invited to the wedding as did two of Andrew's.

Has a Crown Prince ever married a woman who couldn't produce children? I wonder what would happen in this day and age if one of the Crown Princesses couldn't have kids. Would their be a divorce? What do you all think?

Actually, yes, they have. King Henry VIII divorced his first wife, Catherine of Aragon because of her infertility. However, obviously, our modern princesses don't seem to have that problem!!!
In this day and age, no, I don't think they would divorce, unless the issue caused extreme friction in their marriage, as what might be happening in Japan right now with CPss Masako and CP Naruhito (that's what I heard on the Japanese royals board, and I said might, so let's not go there)

Yes, King Baudouin of Belgium married Fabiola of Spain and she had many miscarriages and never was able to have a child. That is why the throne was passed to Baudouin's brother, Albert and will eventually go to Phillipe. Also, Phillipe picked Mathilde himself and has said so. It was not an arranged marriage.
