Franz Joseph (1830-1916) and Elisabeth of Bavaria (1837-1898)
Married : 24.04. 1854
First Child: Sophie 05.03. 1855 (1855-1857)
Time: 10 month 9 days

Gisela (1856-1932) and Leopold of Bavaria (1846-1930)
Married : 20.04. 1873
First Child: Elisabeth Marie 08.01. 1874 (1874-1957)
Time: 11 month 19 days

Elisabeth was born premature , about two weeks. She had one sister and two brothers.

Rudolf (1858-1889) and Stephanie of Belgium (1864-1945)
Married : 10.05. 1881
First Child: Elisabeth 02.09. 1883 (1883-1963)
Time: 2 years, 7 month, 23 days

Only child. The could never have children again, 'cause Rudolf gave an illness to Stephanie.

Rudolf and Stephanie were distantly related. They shared the same great-grandparents: Leopold of Austria (1747-1792) and Maria Ludovika of Bourbon-Spain (1745-1792).

Marie Valerie (1868-1924) and Franz Salvator, Archduke of Austria (1866-1939)
Married : 31.07. 1890
First Child: Elisabeth 27.01. 1892 (1892-1930)
Time: 1 year 4 month, 27 days

Elisabeth had five sisters (one of them died soon after birth, in 1911) and four brothers.

Leopold of Bavaria and Franz Salvator were first cousins, 'cause Leopolds mother Auguste Ferdinande (1825-1864) and Franz Salvators father Charles (1844-1892) were halb-siblings, who shared the same father. Charles died on 18.01. 1892 in Vienna, some days before this grand-daughter Elisabeth was born.

Gisela and Leopold were second cousins (Cousin/e 2. Grades) , Marie Valerie and Franz Salvator were third cousins (Cousine 3. Grades).

Either little Elisabeth Marie was in a hurry to get out or Leopold was in a hurry to... see Giselas petticoat ?

Was Madeleine pregnant on the wedding day or was Leonore born early? I thought she was due the first week of March. (As a comparison, my paternal grandparents got married on September 6th '47 and my uncle was born on May 6th '48, exactly 8 months after the wedding. For the longest time I thought my grandma was a month pregnant when she got married, but when I asked my dad about it, he said "No, Uncle Bill was premature.")

Elisabeth Marie was born premature, about two weeks, as far as I know.

I don't know excactly. Both can be: Leonore was born premature or Madeleine was pregnant at the wedding.

She was probably nine days early:

Prince Alexander of Liechrtenstein & King Abdullah of Jordan - respectively 15 and 16 days early (but it's already considered a full term)

Ones that could in fact be premature were: Prince Alexandre of Belgium (exactly six weeks) and King Michael of Romania (five weeks and two days)

It was most likely a honeymoon child. For the child to be born at 9 months and still be conceived prior (in the few days leading up) to the wedding, she must have been overdue by about 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks. That combination of circumstances seems highly unlikely.

It's important to take into account that the '9 months' is not exactly 9 months, nor is the 40 weeks counted from the moment a child is conceived (but from the last period - about 2 weeks before ovulation).

If a bride would get pregnant from her wedding night, the due date would be about 9 months minus 1 week (i.e. 38 weeks after wedding). So, non-premature babies conceived after the wedding day could be born from 8 weeks and 1 1/2 weeks (taking into account that most months count about 4 1/2 weeks; and being born between 2 weeks prior until 2 weeks after due date is considered full-term).

Depending on the length of the honeymoon, she may not have even been a honeymoon baby.

If she was born on her due date, the range for intercourse and conception is September 19-29. Even at the earliest end of that spectrum her conception was a week after the wedding. Certainly not a pre-wedding baby.

https://www.calculator.net/pregnanc...dWeek=22&cUltrasoundDay=6&printit=0&x=91&y=14

If the baby was conceived on their wedding night, the due date would have been more then a week earlier. It would have been around June 6.

The wedding took place on the 17th (religious wedding on the 21st); so the 'most probable days' (17 - 24) are exactly the week from civil wedding until 1 week after civil wedding.

So, I agree that there is lots of reason to assume that she was a honeymoon child but even with this due date it could be wedding night. A due date of June 6 would make wedding night unlikely (most probable: 8 - 15).

N.B. Feels a bit weird to look into it in so much detail; mainly wanted to make sure that people would not start questioning babies born at 9 months after marriage as that is very much within the expected timeframe for a honeymoon baby; 8 months not so much.

Except that Amalia was born on the 15th, not the 20th :flowers: and the wedding took place on the 17th (religious wedding on the 21st); so the 'most probable days' are exactly the week from civil wedding until 1 week after civil wedding.

I fixed my post when I realized I put the wrong date. If you click my link, you will see it is based on a June 15th due date. And the range of 19-29 was adjusted to reflect that.

Unfortunately I look the OP as being accurate when said wedding date was September 13 not 17th.:ermm:

Most probable date of intercourse was 17-24 so either wedding night or up to a week later. But still a post wedding baby either way.
