Where to find information about the Norwegian Royals.

There are many internet sources for information about Norwegian Royals.

They have their own webpage, Kongehuset (In Norwegian), which also has an English version. The latter is a bit more underdeveloped than the Norwegian, but it should get you started.

You also have the major newspapers and television stations:
VG, Dagbladet Aftenposten, NRK and TV2 (All these are in Norwegian text)

There are also some Norwegian newspapers who have a section on the Royals in English, among them: Aftenposten in English.

You also have The Norway Post which features news about Norway in English. Yes, the royals as well.

Anyone else have any current links to share, to either newspapers, webpages or messageboards about the Norwegian Royals?

There is being published a new biographical encyclopaedia on the Norwegian Kings and Queens. That is why I post this here, as it contains information on the Norwegian royal family through history.

It gives a description of King and Queens all the way from the medievals until today. And it is especially unique in the sense that they also bring in Queens from the union period in Norwegian history.

This is how the royal house’s women rules
A unique book on the Royal House of Norway gives an insight into how about 50 women have kept the Kings in line. Mette-Marit and Sonja are praised.

The book describes Queen Sonja as a “national strategist with a strong engagement in Norwegian nature and cultural heritage”[1] She is the first Queen without royal blood, and is praised for how she has handled this.

Mette-Marit is also high lighted, as the women who challenged the Royal couple’s dignity. But how she and Crown Prince Haakon dared to count on their love strengthened the royal family because they, by accepting her, dared to show courage.

Literature and royal art
The biographies are written by recognised historians and other experts. In addition to describing each individual’s life span, they also give an evaluation of the individual King and Queen’s historical importance, and which role they played in their present.

The book should have a plus for the detailed biographical factual information, and reference to sources and literature for each individual, to those who want to learn more.

And references to (the most) know portraits, busts, sculptures and statues.
The book also contains family trees, which amongst others show that the present Norwegian royal house can trace their ancestors all the way back to the old royal families.

After some e-mailing I found out which book it is they are reviewing in the article. It seems that the women bit is 1/3 of the book. But still quite interesting!

It is obviously published in Norwegian, but I guess that Swedes and Danes and others who are familiar with the Scandinavian languages can enjoy this book too.

The Royal Norwegian Embassies all supply excellent information on the Norwegian Royal Family, The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dublin has lots of great leaflets on the King and on many of the Royal homes and Ceremonies. The Embassy in London aslo has great info both in print and online.

This is a good search motor for news in Norwegian about the Norwegian royals, it searches in all the national and local papers

It works best for Märtha and Mette-Marit as it is not so common names as forinstance Haakon, but it works for him aswell, its better to search for "Kong Harald" than just Harald which is a quite common name.

I dont know weather this is the correct place to ask this question , but I thought Princess Martha louise got married before her brother Prince Haakon , but on the royal website it states that she got married in 2002 , and Prince haakon married in 2001 .

Yes the information is right. Haakon married first (in 2001).
Märtha-Louise married in May 2002.

Well, not exactly about the Norwegian royals, but related to them you can look/hear beautiful a-capella version of the Norwegian national anthem, which is one of the prettiest in the world IMHO. And also on youtuber, the royal anthem of Norway, which can be found . Reminds me of something...hmz...wondering what it is
