Märtha seems to have been quite close to the Countess, seeing that she's been crying in several pictures.
Can anyone tell me more about the relationship of the Countess and the Norwegian Royal Family? Thanks in advance!

Here's an nice obituary. She was married to Prince Flemming of Denmark, who had to give up his royal title to marry her, since she was a commoner. Upon their marriage, they became the Count and Countess of Rosenborg. Her husband was King Harald's first cousin, and she became very close with King Harald's mother, Crown Princess Märtha, before her untimely death. Through the years, she spent a lot of time in Norway with Harald and Sonja, and I read that she was present at almost every important event in Martha Louise and Haakon's lives, which explains Martha Louise's tears (which were very touching).
Here's a picture of the Countess at Sverre Magnus' christening. She's seated next to Queen Margarethe.

Photo at countess Madeleine Bernadotte Kogenivas? Come she at Ruth of Rosenborgs funeral? Princess Ragnhild and Astrid? Queen Margrethe with family? Queen Margrethe is much near friends and relatives at countess Ruth of Rosenborg!

Not really sure where this fits in so sorry in advance if its in the wrong place. I was wondering what the RF does at Christmas. Do they all spend it together every year or alternate between Haakon and Martha-Louise's inlaws other years etc. also are there any christmas traditions the family follow every year? Thanks X

I think Christmas is usually celebrated at Kongesseteren, and on Dec. 24 the family alternates between having Haakon's family and Martha Louise's family (each of whom spent the holiday with their in-laws every other year). Countess Ruth of Rosenborg (Danish countess who just died) and her family usually attended as well.
On Dec. 25, the King and Queen are usually together with Harald's sister Astrid and her husband, and Sonja's brother Haakon and his wife.

Today Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited a Muslim familiy in Oslo to have tea and talk. The visit is a part of the Tea Time campaign of the Norwegian Centre against Racism.
After the visit the Crown Princess said the following on Twitter: We talked about the importance of showing openness to other's beliefs and an understanding that no one is morally over others, regardless of belief.
(I used Google to translate what was said on the CP Couple's facebook page.)

Not to minimize the purpose of the visit, but Queen Sonja looks amazing.
