She is truly enjoying her retirement, you can see how happy she is at the horse show and her delight with the riders. What a zest for life she has for it can catch everyone around her.

That was a surprise, nice to see the Queen hand in hand with her goddaughter & niece.

The movie is about Walraven and Gijs van Hall, bankers from the van Hall family, local patriciate, related to many patrician and noble families from the city. Walraven was shot in 1945 by the Germans. His brother Gijs became mayor of Amsterdam. He married Beatrix and Claus in the Prinsenhof (now Hotel The Grand) in 1966. He was fired in 1967, among other things due to the riots at the royal wedding

A bitter-sweet engagement perhaps, the princess' late husband was the parton of the association 'De Hollandsche molen" (the Holland Mill). Her late son, prince Friso, took over the patronage after his father's death.

Except for the handbags (I'd prefer clutch bags) and the low heels (I'd prefer high heels), I like the way that Princess Beatrix dresses. It's rather discreet yet still Grande Dame.

On October 7 Princess Beatrix (and a cute little friend ?) welcomed a small military parade at the gates of Drakensteyn Castle. The Military Equestrian Association is celebrating its 60 years anniversary this year and one of the jubilee activities was a ride of the Olympic route of the 1928 Olympic Games that passed Drakensteyn Castle.
