Hi Lords, The ideology that Islamic law prescribes the death penalty to a former Muslim who chooses to convert to another religion/belief system is only an interpretation for some individuals, (whether or not they are "Muslim" on a faith basis). The idea/interpretation of inflicting capital punishment upon a person who commits apostasy, can be found within certain hadiths - books which consist of the (alleged) sayings and doings of Prophet Muhammad (so I've heard, although one has to be careful while studying hadiths since not all of them are considered to be valid by most Islamic scholars but mere fabrications, and the ones that are considered to be "true" could easily be taken out of context depending on how one interprets the statements). From what I've read/been taught in regards to the prior belief is that in order for an individual to no longer be considered a Muslim, the person has to be a “sane” adult, has to openly and publicly deny the belief in God (as being the one and only) and Prophet Muhammad (as being His messenger), and has to truly mean what they are saying. One cannot simply accuse a Muslim of being a non-believer and have him/her automatically "proven" to be guilty. There has to be a trial, a sufficient amount of proof has to be brought before the hearing and (again) most importantly of all the suspect has to openly admit to the allegation (unless a(n) (ex) Muslim confesses to the offence, they cannot be found guilty of leaving Islam no matter how much "evidence" the opposition comes up with). As for those who believe that Islamic teachings are not "dead" set against people (apostates) leaving the faith, many of them especially use the following Quran (the first and foremost source of Islamic knowledge) surah and verse to justify their argument: surah 2 verse 256 - There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower. Furthermore, surah 4 verse 137 (within the Quran) seems to imply (to some) that a person can convert in and out of Islam on multiple occasions, without being punished (on earth-unless one is truly sorry) and/or executed through some manner for the prior acts, (especially after their first abandonment of the religion): Lo! Those who believe, then disbelieve and then (again) believe, then disbelieve, and then increase in disbelief, Allah will never pardon them, nor will He guide them unto a way. Here are a couple of site links relating to the former issue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostacy http://www.religioustolerance.org/isl_apos.htm Quote:
Hi emily, I wrote a post in reference to my personal viewpoint regarding the subject of an inter-religious marriage between a Muslim woman and a non-Muslim man a little while ago: http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...475#post232475

Hi Emily62_1! Islam forbids a Muslim Woman to Marry outside their religion. It is compulsory for her Groom to convert to Islam. I hope that this answers your question:)
