Look i don't think anyone of us females would disagree with someone wanting to dress us up designer clothing, having our photo taken, etc. I don't think that it is her that is saying yes, to all of this, i think it's the Monaco machine.

There´s nothing wrong about that. The problem is that is seems to be the only thing that matters. If you look at her recent pictures, she has that arrogant look, like " dont i look sexy?"´I think she should relax. There´s nothing more unbearable than a woman too worried about her looks.

True, I agree. But there was a video taken of her and Albert in their room at the Winter Olympics and here she speaks and looks unpretentious. There are photos of them at the Polar Bear swimming thing in Monaco where she isn't wearing a stitch of makeup or designer clothes. Again, i feel that when she is made up it's usally at official engagements and this "attitude" cames out. Maybe she feels that this is the proper way to behave and look. I didn't care for her all that much, but she is starting to wear on me, in a good way. She is a young woman, 32, not all that wordly and is listening to the "machine" what else could she do.

sorry for mistakes in grammar and syntax

There is a distinction between “Princess of Monegasques” and Princess of Monaco. Charlene can be a perfect princess of Monegasques but to be a princess of Monaco she still needs work.

The Monegasques are simple people. At the recent picnic of Monegasque, she has charmed the Monegasques with her simplicity.
She said a few words in French. She was close to them. She won the respect of the Monegasques
She was perfect for the kind of event typically Monegasque. Event for Monegasque people, no glamorous event.
Just one negative thing : her dress was not picnic dress !!

But, to be a princess of Monaco, Charlene still needs work.
OK, she has a huge lack of culture, she didn’t study, but this isn’t an excuse. Stéphane Bern (French journalist specialist royalty) said: talking with her is like talking with Laure Manaudou (French swimmer) !!! It’s not a compliment.
She was born in Africa. Poverty, childhood, injustice, education, health, I think she should know that. She may still have a minimum of discussion on these topics.
But no, in his rare interviews she said nothing. She has no conversation except the sport. Very limited for a future princess
She should invest more in activities of Princesses Caroline and Stephanie for example.
Charlene is satisfied with doing “the beauty”.

In a rare interview of Charlene, she said she’s philanthropist, she like to go to meet others, she has interest in understanding what is happening in the world and has willingness to help others. OK ! But what did she do the last 4 years? NOTHING except a few galas for this or that charity cause. No actions.
Ok she had no official role but she could to things by herself.

In many fields, social, health, environmental, humanitarian, cultural, political-economic, Princess Caroline will always be First Lady of Monaco if Charlene doesn’t invested more and if she doesn’t become more cultured.
She needs “coach” who will give her the knowledge that she hasn’t.

She also needs coach to dress. She must stop trying to look like Lady Diana or Grace Kelly. Many of her clothes and hairdressing are just updating styles of Diana or Grace. In the years 2006-2007, she was a real freshness, she was herself. She could not dress (today she doesn’t know !) but she was true. She should stop trying to be the "reincarnation" of this or that princess.

Except at the wedding of Victoria of Sweden where she was beautifully dressed, hair and makeup and had a real freshness, other times she gives impression of playing a role, wanting to give a personable but it sounds terribly wrong and lack of natural.
She should also dress appropriately for her age. Sometimes she dresses like a teenager and sometimes she looks like a 50years old bourgeois.

I just have hard time to figure out what kind of mark CW may leave in MC. She is so blah person and she is always so indifferent when assisting Albert in his duties. She is only excited when she knows that camera is pointing at her. JMO.

This is a really tough room. What we'd like Charlene to do is of no import. All she has to do is produce an heir and she will have done her duty. Like it or not, she doesn't have to do anything at all, except for that heir thing.

*technically* due to the 2002 change, she doesn't even HAVE to produce an heir either, as it'll just pass to Caroline and her children.
Her main duty is to make Prince Albert happy. That's it-nothing more. Which, she seems to be doing thus far.

I think that Charlene is in a very good position. It's possible that as well as being a person of good character her career as an athlete has had a steadying and disciplined influence on her life. IMO the Monaco RF, despite it's size, is probably the most famous after the British and is in need of a real Lady that the world can admire. The current Princesses, sometimes through their own fault sometimes not have desperatley fallen short. Charlene begins her Royal career with no baggage and if she can follow, which I'm sure we all hope, will be a glorious Royal wedding with the birth of some new Princes/Princesses and then continue to exude the elegance she already does with the warmth and charm required by a Princess Consort then I'm sure she will be a success.

I hope she can start up a foundation with her name to promote sports with young people.
Maybe she also gets to be the president of the Red Cross in Monaco? Now Albert is, before that it was Grace.

And I think Caroline will keep the cultural jobs and Stephanie the FAM and the Circus Festival.

Totally. I don't know if they will have children, after all, Andrea was trained his whole life to be the heir, and if Albert has one...what is he going to do with all the training? Anyway, this isn't the exact thread to discuss it, i'm just making a point.

I was thinking that too. I'm sure she will do this.

But has Andrea trained his whole life to be heir or heir just in case.

What has he done for Monaco other than show up to a few events?

Also, isn't Caroline really Monaco's heir?

Charlene's main goal is to provide a heir that is a direct descendant of Albert, his child....not his sister. Everything else is pretty much gravy.

Yes, it's Caroline, and then Andrea.
I mean the training since he's been at school. I'm quite sure he wouldn't have studied political sciences if he is not the second in line.
He has told in the Hola interview that he is very involved in Monaco's political things...i don't think he is lying.
Anyway, i'm just saying that there's not need for Charlene to give an heir to Albert..he already has his sister and her issue. She just has to make a good princess, first lady, and give the right image to Monaco. And make happy to his husband. Is not that Monaco will be under France's goverment if Charlene doesn't get pregnant.

All the people of Monegasque want a hair from Prince Albert " All the monegasque peoples who are interwieded in the tv say" We are happy for prince Albert and Charlene, a weedding and soon the heir we are expected for so many years", they really don't see Caroline or Andrea like sovereign.,but if Charlene and Albert have no children; it will be Caroline and then Andrea, but in any case the Nicole coste'son like his mother wants to see us on her blog.

I would like to see those interviews. Is there any link to them?
I'm not saying that monegasques don't want Charlene to give an heir, i'm saying that is not necessary because Albert has heirs, but they are not his children.
Of course it's "better" if Charlene gives Monaco and heir...she probably will do it. It's just bothers me the thought that Charlene is only a "thing" that only has to provide an heir, and then she is like useless.
So, to make her own mark in Monaco, apart from giving an heir, she should do charitable work, balls of beneficence, etc.

Oh, and what did you mean with Nicole Coste's son? I didn't understand.

the interview were on the videos of nice matin when the engagement of the prince was annonced, on the ,shweiz tv glanz und gloria, on the french tv "the 5",. I said that Nicole Coste claimed on her personal blog that her son is a prince and she spoke of her son like he was the next heir for Monaco, I think that she dreams? As i say there is a constitution that says only child whose parents are married can be the heir of Monaco, but i agree whith you Charlene wittstock should do also charitable work and so, we will wait and see.

We should never generalize things, even if some people in those interviews
said so, we can't say "All the people of Monaco..", many of them surely
have totally different opinions on the issue.

Besides that this is not a thread about Nicole Coste and her possible statements,
so let us please stay on topic!

Goodness, I don't envy Charlene after she is married. There's going to be immense pressure on her to get pregnant ASAP. Not only to provide an heir but also because Albert isn't getting any younger and he needs to be around to train/mentor his future heir. I hope she and Albert are blessed with children.

Iceflower, thanks for pointing out that "the Monégasques" are not a homogeneous group of people. Many will be used to having the Grimaldi clan around. Others will see them in terms of "being good for business". Others again will be indifferent.

PA has shown shrewd business sense since his father died. He imported a girlfriend and has had shedloads of publicity ever since. Now, in a time if recession, he pulled another "coup" with the engagement story.
