Prince Albert And Charlene Announce Wedding Dates!

One of most highly anticipated royal weddings of the last half century is to take place in Monaco on July 9.

That's the date when the principality's sovereign Prince Albert will walk down the aisle with South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock.

"The prince's palace announced that the religious marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Miss Charlene Wittstock will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2011," a palace statement said.

"A civil marriage will be held the previous day, Friday, July 8, at the prince's palace," it continued.

Since announcing their engagement the couple have looked more contented and relaxed than ever.

The usually reserved duo set the flashbulbs whirring by dancing wildly at an Iggy Pop concert recently and making a glamorous appearance at an exclusive polo fixture in Britain.

Instead of July 8th and 9th, the wedding will take place one week earlier on July 2nd and 3rd!

(Also changed to Saturday and Sunday, instead of Friday and Saturday)

The date was changed as to the first meeting of the International Olympic
Committee (IOC) in Durban from July 5 to 9, the couple plans to attend
and Prince Albert's wish to dedicate their first journey abroad to South
Africa, the new princess' home country.

All the Heads of State of countries to which H.S.H. the Prince has made an official visit since his accession in 2005, as well as the Heads of State of countries connected to the family (United States, Ireland, South Africa).

- What patronym will the future Princess use?

It is important to distinguish the patronymic name that everyone has upon their birth from the title acquired pursuant to marrying the Reigning Prince. Therefore, Miss Wittstock will officially become “H.S.H. Princess Charlene”.This will be her title. She may simply use “Charlene of Monaco”, in particular for her signature.

- How will the Prince be dressed on the day of the wedding? Will he be wearing a uniform?

Official Royal Wedding Dinner

H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Miss Charlene Wittstock have entrusted Mr Alain Ducasse, in cooperation with the S.B.M., to prepare the official dinner for their wedding.

The dinner will be prepared in the kitchens of the Louis XV at the Hotel de Paris with the support of staff from establishments belonging to the Société des Bains de Mer of Monte Carlo.

The royal couple would like to put Mediterranean cuisine in the spotlight on this occasion by selecting products from the region, including those from the Prince’s estate located in Rocagel.

Over 450 guests will attend the dinner, which will take place on the terraces of the Garnier Opera House on 2nd July 2011.
