Default Server problems

We're having some problems with the server at the moment, which are causing error messages and glitches in posting. If a post or a thread of yours doesn't post, please check the "Find all messages by this poster" link in your profile before attempting to post again. That'll make it easier to clean up once we get the system up and running again.

According to Andy, the problem has been fixed. However, if you continue to have problems accessing pages or posting, please let a member of the moderation team know.

There seems to have been a problem with the The Royal Forums database.

I have been getting the same problem and ended up double posting when I hit the refresh (which I deleted).

Best of luck chasing the glitches and thank you for all the hard work you all do!

In some threads (e.g. non-reigning houses), the last posts appearing now are those made yesterday, although there are actually new posts there, if you open the thread.

I have been getting this message for a couple of days now - started late Tuesday night Sydney time and it is now nearly 5.00p.m. Thursday and it is continuing.

I also had this problem last week for a short time.

It is a recurring problem - not just in the last day or so, from my experience.

Okay, here's a funky error.

I'm in this thread. It says I'm on page two of three. I click on three and it reloads two.

I checked the posts, there is really only two pages. So why does it show three and then refuse to load it? I could see if they loaded page two twice (as page two and then as page three) but creating something where it doesn't exist at all?

Time for an exorcism on the server!

So I went back and posted again.

Same error page.

I went back and instead of quick posting, I went to Advanced and wrote.

Same error message again.

So instead of trying again, I went back to this page and reloaded.

Guess what?
*dramatic pause*
4 versions of the first post!

I have now edited the duplicate posts to reflect the updates to my tale.

But while I was editing the posts (clicking on the edit button below them, not going advanced), a little message appeared in each of my edits:

Refreshing the entire page again showed all the posts with the edits instead of the error message.

So if you want to post, write and copy the message, try to post and if you get the error message, go back and refresh the page before trying to post again.

Ben, I feel your pain!

I did just this so I would only post once--nope, as I refreshed, there was a double post again.

Can't beat this bugger!

I do not live in this thread!

I was in this one and tried to quick post again (nasty habit this board is trying to break me of!) but instead of the same 'ol error, I got this one (must not have liked my verbage):

There seems to have been a problem with the The Royal Forums database.

But it did post---twice. (I went back and refreshed to check.)

I think Suonymona is trying to tell us we have ongoing server problems.

The trick is to ignore the error message and not click the 'refresh' button.

Clicking 'refresh' will duplicate the post. Over and over!

If you can, have two TRF sessions open. If and when a post goes to the 'error/refresh' page, go to the second session and go back into the thread and check: chances are the post has taken. It may not show up as a new post on the Portal page, but if it is showing in the thread then it's worked.

So I did what it said and refreshed the page, but the same message came up. I tried this about 3 times before I gave up. I just went back into the thread again to find my post 6 times! I deleted five of them and got the same message at the bottom of the page.

I think the server is on the fritz! I wish luck to those who are in charge of fixing the problem!

Edit: The same thing happened when I posted this message too!
I had the same problem today, right after a long day of chem., math.,history, english and biology
