Default PoM 2008 Ideas and Suggestions

Hello Everyone -

We are working on formulating the 2008 PoM program and we wanted your help.

We were thinking about running two polls every month, a formal and an informal. Below are some suggestions. We would like to know if you think that this is too much, if you would be interested and if you have any thoughts or suggestions.

The idea is that the polls would open one week apart so as not to over load the poor PoM committees.

Let us know what you think! We have 2 other threads running with this topic (suggestions for 2008) in other areas of the forums because we are hoping for a bigger and better 2008 for the PoM and want to get as many responses as possible. Please remember that this is just a starting off point, and we welcome everyones ideas!

Informal Poll Schedule: Only for the previous 12 month period unless otherwise noted.

Favorite Gala Photo- February
Favorite Childrens Photo - October
Favorite Vacation Photo – September (only for summer vacations)
Favorite Royal Jewel - July
Royal Residence - March
Favorite Royal Wedding Dress - April
Favorite informal Holiday photo : January
Portrait or Posed photo - May
Family Photo - June
Silliest Royal moment - August
Photo Montage - November

I like the idea of running informal polls every month or so, because I think that it will give the PoM an outlet for their more creative photos, and I think that it will really give them the opportunity to get the fun pictures out there, and encourage other members to visit more. It might seem like a lot, but I really suggest that we put it to the PoM committees to see what they think.

Hello Everyone! We are eageraly looking forward to suggestions from everyone for the 2008 PoM program!

We are also looking for volunteers for the Picture of the Month teams! Please PM myself, Lady Jennifer and Mandy and let us know if you are interested, and if so which countries you would like to be a member for. We are not looking for members for every team, but we always like to know who is interested and who knows, we might have space on the team you prefer!

Default polls

I really love the idea of more then one PoM. There are so many topics when it comes to royals and their friends and families. Best tiara or jewels at the latest royal function or favorite new books or best movie about a royal. I'm sure these have all been done but it's still fun!!!
I would be willing to help out if you need somebody..

No problem. It can be confusing sometimes.

I like the idea of doing informal polls more regularly. It does seem like a lot. I think I could handle it (I can't speak for the other committee people) as long as the polls wouldn't run at the same time. Like you said maybe a week apart, maybe even two weeks. First half of the month perhaps could be for the formal polls, then the second half of the month could be for the informal polls. That might not be so bad. It would be very hard to have to think about nominations for two polls all at once, though. That's my only reservation about it, as it does seem like it would be more fun to have these themed polls.

I support the idea of having an informal poll every or every second month.
It would be more work for the PoM committees but also more fun to choose. The not official pics often show a special side of the Royals we all love, i think. The voters will like more informal polls, and it´s maybe a chance to motivate more members of TRF to vote for the PoM.

I hate to be the dissenting voice, but I'm not certain that the idea of "informal" polls is a good idea, at least not a regular basis.

There are some Royal houses out there where most photos released are very formal, eg. Jordan, Dubai, Morocco etc. so those countries would not be able to participate very often.

For example the "Children's photo" and the "Vacation photo" would be difficult to assign with some Royal houses as you hardly ever get photos of children or holidays.

Perhaps having the poll less regularly, say once every 3 months would be better, that way all houses would have a fair opportunity to join in.

Well, the idea would be that each informal poll would be for the 12 month period preceding it, so the holiday photo could be from any of the 12 mmonths beforehand, for example.

Well, it's possible that not every country will be able to participate in every informal poll, and that's OK as long as a particular country isn't excluded time after time.

We're trying to keep the main focus on the formal polls since that's the side of royalty we're trying to emphasise. But we've been getting feedback that people were missing the photos of children and vacations and the rest of the informal stuff from the 2006 poll, which is why we're adding some of the informal and topic-specific polls as well as the formal ones.

I like the ideas for the informal polls, like the royal jewels and the residence themes might really be fun. What about "best hair"? Or "Funniest Hair"? I don't know, maybe it's too disrespectful.

How about "funny faces" for an informal PoM topic? We sometimes see funny faces made by little royals as well as grown up royals. So why not have a poll on that? And perhaps an "endearing moment" PoM topic? I don't think that would exclude anyone. I also like those Kodak moment type photos too, which might have been taken in a formal setting, but aren't formal themselves.Anyway these are my suggestions...

Why not creating a poll where royals are doing sports?
