2007 Picture of the Month - New Format

Thanks for helping make the Picture of the Month 2006 so exciting for all of us. And thanks also for giving us your feedback on how to make the Picture of the Month for 2007 even better!

Now the TRF moderation team and your Picture of the Month representatives take great pride in announcing the format for the new Picture of the Month 2007

What's New?

Quarterly themed polls in addition to the monthly polls

We've added specially themed polls once a Quarter in addition to the monthly polls - since informal pictures of royals were so popular in 2006 we've separated them out and given them their own informal photo polls in April and October in addition to the regular monthly polls . Due to requests for themed polls, we've also added a historical picture poll in July and a portrait picture poll for the end of the year.

The historical picture poll in July will be a truly special poll for it will be for all pre-WWI pictures. What does this mean to you? This will give the non-reigning forums such as Germany, Austria, Russia, Bulgaria, Poland a chance to compete. Also since the copyright has expired on all pre-WWI photographs, we can finally have a poll with the pictures actually in the thread. Won't it be nice to see some pictures in the threads again?

The portrait picture poll in January will also be special because several wonderfully painted portraits will be eligible for the poll in addition to the many delightful photographed royal portraits.

The quarterly poll schedule is as follows:

• April: Informal royal photo poll for informal photos taken during Jan-March 2007
• July: Historical royal photo poll for photos taken before WWI
• October Informal royal photo poll for informal photos taken during Aug-Sept 2007
• January: Royal portrait poll for royal portraits for any time frame after WWI (painted or photographed)

Monthly polls-new format

Due to the response from members, the format for the new monthly polls will highlight the official side of royalty as opposed to the informal side of royalty. Remember you can still vote for your favorite informal royal picture in the quarterly informal polls.

The monthly polls will consist of pictures that show a royal on official business.

• gala events such as the Nobel prize ceremonies, state visits, royal ceremonies such as the the Order of the Garter ceremony in Great Britain or the New Years gala for the Knights of the Order of the Elephant in Denmark, Opening of Parliament, coronations, enthronements.
• openings of public events, government buildings, hospitals, christening of ships, official charity work
• family celebrations (such as wedding, christening, or special days such as Victoria Day in Sweden or Queen's Day in the Netherlands, King Harald's 70th birthday) and the balcony shots that accompany them
• among many other official events

2007 Schedule for Monthly Official and Quarterly Themed Polls:

• March: Monthly Official Poll for January and February
• April, Monthly Official Poll for March and an Informal Poll
• May, Monthly Official Poll for April
• June, Monthly Official Poll for May
• July, Monthly Official Poll for June and a Historical Poll
• August, Monthly Official Poll for July
• September, Monthly Official Poll for August
• October, Monthly Official Poll for September and an Informal Poll
• November, Monthly Official Poll for October
• December, Monthly Official Poll for November
• January, Monthly Official Poll for December and a Portrait Poll

The first monthly poll for 2007 will begin this weekend.

Great job to all that worked on this. I love the idea of the special historical picture poll in July. That will be great to see pics of some non-reigning houses.

Thanks ZandraRae, RhapsodyBrat, nokklav, and Aurora. The Picture of the Month reps have been working hard to get the first poll ready and I'm pleased to say, its almost ready to go!

Look for it in the next day or so - maybe even sooner!

We plan to put out a video for each month's poll in the same YouTube channel (RoyalPictures). If you are a member of YouTube, you can subscribe to the channel RoyalPictures and get updates whenever we publish a new picture of the month video.

Did you know you can also rate the video and leave comments on YouTube? The more ratings and comments the video has on YouTube the more visible the video becomes on YouTube searches so more people outside The Royal Forums may see the video and visit TheRoyalForums to vote in the poll.
