I've moved the recent posts on Queen Mary's tiaras and jewels to the British Royal Jewels of the Past thread as it's better to keep all the material in the one place.

Well, my dear Magnik, it only goes to prove if you got it, flaunt it. The woman is enought to scare you to death. Have you noticed the massive stomach she has pasted upon her royal bosom. And those eyes, My God, those eyes. The woman is enough to stop traffic. We needed her in the Ardenne Forrest in 1914. she would have stopped Von Kluck and the Huns cold in their tracks. The tiara is grand beyond words and the whole ensemble just puts you in the mood to just prostrate on the floor and hope she does not deign to Notice YOU, you miserble worm and peasant. Just the way royalty should be. Cheers.

Does anyone know where it originates from? Or where it is now?
It looks beautiful from afar.

Dear Lashinka I believe it is the Hesse spike tiara I have seen a close up of it on its own somewhere. Try googling the house of hesse.

Anyone know where the Hesse Spike Diadem is these days? The current family haven't worn it for any recent weddings, using an ears-of-wheat affair instead. I really hope it wasn't part of the jewels destroyed after WWII.

DIAMOND LEAVES AND FLOWER TIARA

This diamond-set tiara was given by Queen Victoria to Princess Alice on occasion of her marriage in 1862 to Grand Duke Ludwig of Hesse und bei Rhein. Of neo-classical inspiration, it takes the form of a graduated frieze of stylized leaves and flowers, supported by a latticework gallery.

OH. MY. GOD. This is the most hilarious thing I have read in many moons, and so spot on, as the Brits like to say! Thank you for making my day Mr Parkham!

Oh my God, my Lyme brain has gone and done it again. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Please, oh please most Noble and Merciful Elspeth and other exaulted and wondrous moderators, I prostrate in abject humiliation, do not wrack me on the knuckles this time.

Oh the quote, the heinous and horrible quote: "...have you noticed the massive stomach she has pasted on her royal bosom...." Of course what I meeant was "Have you notice the massive stomacher she has pasted on her royal bosom."" A stomacher is a kind of broch worn on the bosom and can be quite massive indeed, dripping usually with diamonds etc.

PS. Dear Heart, the last name is Parkman, coming originally from a kind of game wardn or guardian of the hunting ranges of kings and nobility. Cheers.

I stand corrected, Mr PARKMAN! In my uncontrollable mirth I misspelled your name...but either way you spell it, you are a gem. Thanks!
