The story goes that according to an uncle or a close relative of King Carl Gustaf The Edward VII Ruby Tiara is actually his. So probably to avoid any further discussion they don't were it.

So if Prince Carl Philip were to marry, which tiara would his wife be given?

I'd actually like to see the Royals wearing less extravagant jewellery in the future, I think the era for the really big pieces is slipping away.

I don't think they will have a gala. They didn't have one for Prince Amedeo when he turned and he's their oldest son. I think they will have a private family gathering like they did for Prince Amedeo. I've noticed that the Belgian Royal Family don't really throw big parties like the other royals. As nice as it would be to see them throw a nice big party for her I don't think they will (it wouldn't be fair if she got a gala and her brother didn't), they are a very private family. But I do hope they will give her a nice tiara for her 18th birthday.

Just a reminder that this thread is for royal jewels. Please keep the discussion to tiaras already in royal families or likely to be bought by royals in the future. Pictures of paste tiaras from wedding catalogues aren't relevant to a thread about royal jewels.

I know this is really early but I would like to see Cathrina-Amalia of the Netherlands wear this tiara for her wedding.

Yes, that's a really pretty one. Does someone know how it's called and what its history is? I'm quite curious about it!

It's the Württemberg Tiara, diamonds and pearls, worn by Queen Beatrix on her wedding day in 1966. The provenance is from Princess Sophie, a daughter of Wilhelm I, King of Württemberg, who married King Willem III of the Netherlands in 1839.

When Beatrix married she added some pearls on top of it. I believe Queen Wilhelmina used it at her wedding as well, adorned with Orange-blossom I think.

Thanks for the information, Warren and Marengo. It's always a treat to read your comments on royal jewels! :)
I'll head off and go searching some pictures of Beatrix's and Wilhelmina's marriages now!

I hope when Charolette Casiraghi gets married she will wear some of her mother's jewels. I think she should either wear the pearl and diamond tiara or the diamond fringe tiara, I'm leaning more to the fringe for some reason.:)
Here's a pic

That would be great! Would Charlotte wear a tiara on her wedding day? She's technically not a princess and probably will not marry into a royal household. I know lots of women wear tiaras on their wedding day but I wonder if Charlotte would go that route. I hope she does, I think she would look magnificent in one! I'm leaning towards the fringe as well. I think the pearls look too....old? for Charlotte. Well, maybe because I'm thinking of the 18 year old Charlotte?

did Grace wear a tiara at her wedding?

And charlotte is not a royal so she maybe will not use the jewllery that her mother has when we talk about tiaras

No grace did not wear a tiara to her wedding which is a shame IMO because she would have looked stunning. She wore a headpiece which you can see here http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...956-a-5-2.html
it's post # 39

I don't think being royal matters if you wear a tiara or not when you get married. If your mother is a princess and she has access to the jewels and her daughter would like to wear one I think she would let her. Hey it could be a 'something borrowed' also I've see some exiled princesses and even Queens still wears jewels and let their daughters wear their tiara's so why not Charlotte if she chooses when her mother still is a princess?:)

I can see either Princess Maria-Laura or her sister Princess Luisa-Maria wearing this tiara http://www.sjphillips.com/antique_je...wels/27891.jpg

Or this necklace converted into a tiara

Really like the first one, it seems simple and elegant. The second one however, while equally simple isn't my style.

I am hoping Charlotte!:) She would look gorgous in one of her mother's tiaras but it will probably be Andrea's wife if she chooses. Or if Caroline is so kind, she could lend one to Albert's wife (if the guy ever gets married) I would like to see the fringe tiara be used again, instead of just a necklace.

There is a beautiful tiara by Fred Leighton on his website that is very similar to Crown Princess Mathilde's tiara that she received as a gift from the Belgian Aristocrats.

Thanks shadiyah2086! All those jewels are beautiful on his site. my favorite is the sapphire and diamond brooch on page 8. It reminds me of princess Mary's christening brooch.:)
