Queen Ingrid left her ruby parure to Frederik, who happened to get married after Queen Ingrid's passing. Had she lived to see the wedding, she'd probably kept the rubies till her death, for Mary to wear it afterwards. I don't see that Mary is bound to give them to Christian's wife during her lifetime. Time will show, but I think that Mary will continue to wear it for life.

But it will be interesting to see, if the next generation of Danish Royals will adopt tiara sharing, or if the will continue to set aside specific tiaras for personal use only. Personally, I hope to see some sharing. Mary's wedding tiara, her new ruby-spinel tiara and the turquoise bandeau will make nice tiaras for the young generation, imo.

I wish more handled tiaras like the Swedish. It makes sense to have tiaras that belong to just the queen and the rest shared. Yes, there are the rare private owned, but the majority can be worn by any.

It would be great if the Danes and others did this. Especially the Belgians who have so few. Leave the historical pieces, like Elizabeth's bandeau, in the main line. Paola could wear it till she died, but keep it where it belongs. All royals have plenty of personal jewels to leave to other kids. Keep the tiaras where needed.

Ingrid wore the rubies until she died because she was no longer queen. Mary will have access to the tiaras the queen wears, when she is queen. It's not unthinkable to believe her tiaras will be worn by her daughters and daughter in laws. It also seems likely that a historical piece would be given to the future crown princess to wear, while personal pieces like her wedding, be worn by her daughters.

For Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane, I think they will share a variety of tiaras. I can picture them wearing the aquamarine tiara, the Antique pearl tiara, the sapphire necklace tiara, and the Dutch emerald/pearl tiaras on a regular basis. Maybe their mothers wedding tiara as well. I hope they will wear the laurel wreath tiara, as their mother as never worn it. As for wedding tiaras, I predict Amalia will wear the large pearl tiara like Beatrix. For Alexia and Ariane, I think they will wear any of the other tiaras that I mentioned.

I hope Charlotte will attend tiara events on a regular basis. I hope she will wear the Strathmore rose tiara. I doubt she will wear the lovers knot tiara, even though I hope she will .

Since the little "Parma princesses" Luisa and Cecilia recently got a title (marchioness and countess) i would assume that they will wear a tiara at some point in their lives...the family seems to take the traditional royal route..

Their Mother wore a tiara from the Royal Netherland Vault.
Princess Irene's big Bournon Parme tiara was stolen .
They don't have any tiara anymore because the Bourbon Parma tiara belongs to Princess Franšoise who will never give it to her Brother's Children.

It is likely the two girls will only wear one at their wedding. That has been the case for their aunts at least. I suspect that they will have access to a minor piece from the Orange-Nassau collection but time will tell. I am not sure how the ownership of the jewel foundation is arranged. Will the various branches get a stake in the foundation once the princesses of Soestdijk have passed? Or will the main line control it completely?

In Belgium new tiara's may be needed in the future, if all 4 children of the king are expected to join in with state visits and such. The queen only has access to three pieces, one of which is the Nine Provinces tiara, which is only worn by Queens (or fallen queens if we count Pss Lilian ).

Princess Aiko will wear a tiara at 20, not 18. Although Japan lowered the voting age to 18, age of majority for most Japanese remains 20. Imperial members can't vote anyway. Only the Emperor, Kotashi, and Kotaison come of age at 18, see The Imperial House Law - The Imperial Household Agency
Quote:
Article 22. The majority age for the Emperor, the Kotaishi and the Kotaison shall be eighteen.
