I hope Queen Sofia is invited to Spanish Gala for the President of Peru, really miss Sofia's regal look at such events and ofcourse we get to see another Spanish Tiara!

Aah, yes, I miss her too! Queen Sofia always knew how to wear a tiara with style. But at the moment I don't think that she will ever again attend State Banquets. Since JC seems to keep a very low key role, it is not likely that Queen Sofia will attend without him. But I'd like to be profen wrong. It seems that only in the Netherlands the former Queen can attend state occasions without anyone getting the impression that she is butting in or trying to hold on. She has such a warm relationship with WA and Maxima that no one can ever think that she's trying to interfere. I love that!

So IloveCP and eya got a point for the Belgian scroll tiara on Maria Theresa, and ½ point for Stefan. I got only the girls tiara for QEII right, and none of us guessed any of the Dutch tiaras right. But Dutch and Luxembourg are so difficult to guess.

The next event might be easier: on July 7 the president of Peru will pay a SV to Spain. As much as I’d love to finally see one of the old, larger tiaras on Queen Letizia, I doubt that this will come true. Imo she will either give her own tiara a second go, or she will repeat the good old floral tiara.

I think Letizia to the state visit of Peru wore the wedding tiara.
But before that in Mexico there is not the tiara event?

Ops thanks Tilia my mistake.

Queen Letizia does not wear tiaras on State Visits to republics. Even Queen Sofia did not wear tiaras in republics.

Tilia C, I also guessed the same tiara here.

As for Letizia, I predict she will wear the Floral tiara.

I'm sorry that I overlooked your guess, all the posts can be so confusing:flowers:. So you got two tiaras right, well done!

I wonder which tiara Queen Letizia will wear at this weeks State Visit gala dinner?

This is another opportunity to dream of seeing 'la buena', the Ansorena fleur-de-lys tiara. But it is so unlikely .

Tomorrow's state banquet will most likely be the last one before the summer break.

I would be (very pleasantly) surprised if La Buena made its debut this evening. I think it will be one of the smaller tiaras she has previously used: the Floral, Prussian, the Shell or perhaps, the new Pearl & Diamond F-d-L.

If Letizia wears a diadem, I think it will be a small one, the Prussian diadem from Doña Sofía or the floral wreath diadem.

Bridal Tiara for Beatrice Borromeo

Summer is slow in tiara events, but there is the wedding of Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo coming up. The civil wedding tomorrow will be tiarafree, but there is a very good chance for a bridal tiara at the religious wedding!:D I just hope that they will let us see decent pictures of the bridal couple (unlike Andrea and Tatiana).

I would love Beatrice to wear the same diamond tiara that her two eldest half sisters Isabella and Lavinia have worn. But there is also the possibility that she wears a Grimaldi tiaral. What do you think?

For me is sure Beatrice wore the same tiara like her sisters. I think always the royal bride don't wore the family tiara if she have?

You have right about that. So waiting and see until August 1st.

I believe that Beatrice even if the Constantin and Laurentien take part (i doubt little) will be present.
I agree with that you say Tilia is to be a highlight :)

That i think me too Stefan. But now because Constantijn live the Netherland maybe change that and take part more often to the state visits.

It varies, eya. Two of Beatrice's half sisters wore the same diamond tiara, so that must be a Borromeo tiara. The third half sister wore a tiara from the Fürstenberg family because the husband was a Prince of Fürstenberg. Also in other noble families often the brides wear their own family's tiara, but some wear the tiara of their in-laws. Both is possible.

Since it was apparently king Philippe himself who told journalists that a Belgian state visit to The Netherlands is being planned for 2016, it seems that we can look forward to some nice jewels.

It will also be interesting to see if prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien willl start attending state banquets now they have moved to The Hague. And if we are very lucky, both Beatrix as Margriet will show up too.

Of course that visit is another opportunity to hope for the Stuart tiara on Queen Maxima and the Spanish gift tiara on Queen Mathilde. I doubt that this is a realistic guess, but some dreaming should be allowed.

Royal-Royal State Visits often bring a big turn-out of attending family members. Eg. Princess Märtha Louise doesn't attend normal SVs, but she attended the visits from other monarchies. Sometimes also the heirs come along to these visits, although Elisabeth and Amalia are still too young to expect that. But in this light I think it well possible that Constantijn and Laurentien will take part. And I'll be surprised if Beatrix and Margriet will back out.

One thing is sure: That State Visit will be quite a highlight!

When the King of Jordan made a State Visit to the Netherlands, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien were at the State Banquet: picture.

A day later also some sons of Princess Margriet did attend: picture.

When Queen Beatrix made a State Visit to Belgium, also Prince Constantijn was part of her escorte: picture.

So there is a good chance that they will attend the State Banquet, for sure also because the couple and their children live(d) and work in Brussels.

When the King of Jordan made a State Visit to the Netherlands, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien were at the State Banquet: picture.

But wasn't this because Willem-Alexander and Máxima did not attend. I believe they where on a trip abroad. And this was so far the only time they attended a State Banquet. But let's hope that this will change now.
As for Princess Beatrix Queen Juliana also used to attend State Banquets in the first years after her abdication and stopped only sometimes in the 1990's. .

It is time for Prince Constantijn to step up, I think. At the Corps Diplomatique Banquet -a few weeks ago- we saw Queen Máxima, Princess Beatrix and Princess Margriet, that means: the present Queen, the former Queen and her sister. The King's own brother who is the closest adult person in line of succession was nowhere.

I understand the desire of the Prince to pursue a private life. Maybe the royal family thinks that in 5-6 years the Princess of Orange will become more and more in the focus, reaching her adulthood. In these 5-6 years Princess Beatrix and Princess Margriet probably remain in the picture so now and then.

:flowers:

Wasn't their 'stepping-up' given as the reason for their move back to NL? So it would make perfect sense that they'd start attending state banquets. And what better than the banquet for their neighbors and friends?

So far Princess Laurentien has worn five differente tiaras: the laurel tiara, the ears-of-wheat, the pearl version of the emerald tiara, Queen Emma's diamond tiara with a centre ruby, and the aquamarine tiara.
I would love to see her trying out no. 6. My preferance would be the small sapphire tiara, but others are also possible.

Errm... no. That is the one tiara I'd not like to see on her again. Imo it didn't suit her the last time she wore it, and I doubt that it would look much better on her the next time. Imo this tiara needs a wedding veil to cover the gap in the middle.

Queen Máxima surprised us with ears-of-wheat which were not a part of this diadem. The story is that some diamond ears-of-wheat were broken away from the diadem, and given to Hofdames or Dames du Palais as a sign of appreciation.

After seeing Queen Máxima with three diamond ears-of-wheat from another set, I wonder if that story is true. Why breaking diamond ears-of-wheat from a diadem while there are separate items in the cassettes?

So there remains a bit of a mystery around this. It would not surprise me when the Queen orders the Ears-of-Wheat in a different arrangement or eventually with copies of some ears-of-wheat (the Court Jeweller will be able to make replicas) to fill the set up. When the ears are able to tremble, it will have a magical effect, anyway. See picture.

When is the next event with tiaras? In December Nobels?

But to all this state visits its not sure to see tiaras. For example Queen Mathilde to the visit to China she don't wore any tiara.
But we see :)

What i feared not many tiaras event until Nobel
Well quite early but Tilia tempted me and i will do my wishes to. (I'm starting to become tiara-mania and therefore you fault Tilia ).

I want Silvia with the Leuchtenberg tiara (i adore, adore this tiara).
I want Victoria (why not?) cameo tiara.
I want Madeleine with the Connaught tiara.
I think Sofia she wore her wedding tiara.

Yes Tilia i forgive you BUT (always there is a but) you answer me to every question i have about tiaras :) Promise?

There will be several State Visits in the coming months with a good chance on some sparkle.

Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark will bring a visit to President and Mrs Jodo Widodo (Indonesia).

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh will receive President and Mrs Xi Jinping (China).

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands do it the other way: they will travel to China and bring a visit to President and Mrs Xi Jinping. The Chinese President already made a visit to them, last year. See picture).

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will bring a visit to President Mrs Dalia Grybauskaitė (Lithuania).

When Queen Beatrix made a State Visit to China, she wore a diadem. See picture.

When the Chinese President was guest at the Royal Palace Amsterdam, he and his escorte wore stylish black costumes or gowns. It matched wonderfully well with the white tie dresscode observed by the Dutch guests. See picture. So it can become a stylish affair with jewels.

Also Queen Margrethe didn't wear a tiara on the SV to China. The dresscode was just suit. I am not sure about Indonesia and Lithuania, but I think that we won't see tiaras there.

But usually there is a Representation Dinner in Sweden each autumn. (I bet that will be Sofia's second tiara date!)

And Norway always holds a gala for the Parliament (Stortinget), usually in October.

Also I read that QEII will bring a State Visit to Malta. But I'm not sure if the information is correct, it might be just a normal visit without gala (I hope not!).

It would be very surprising if there were no incoming State Visits announced in autumn. But we'll have to wait and see.

And then there is the Stuyvesand Ball in NY which is attended by Princess Margriet most years. (Last year she wore the star tiara for the first time!)

Of course there is always the Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace (behind firmly closed doors ). But sometimes the paps catch a glimpse of an arriving lady in the car. Last year there were pics of Camilla with the Shand tiara, and some years ago they photographed Kate with the papyrus tiara. I hope that we'll get lucky again this year.

Still, the Nobels will be the highlight of the next tiara season. Here some of my wishes:
- the Queen with the cameo parure! 5 years is to long to stay in the vaults, it needs to see some candlelight!
- CP Victoria with Lilian's laurel tiara. The Nobels are just the right event to pay tribute to the late princess.
- Madeleine with something other than the modern fringe. It is nice, but over-used. Give it a break, try the large cut steel! Or the Baden fringe! Anything.
- I'm not yet used to the emerald tiara, so Sofia is welcome to wear it again, but only the first night. On the 2nd night she should show us that the emeralds can be detached (if they can). Or start to loan from the Bernadotte collection. The four buttons tiara is not my favourite, but it is a good start, and it has been worn by all the other princesses.
- For Princess Christina: Please not the six buttons again, at least not two nights in a row. What about borrowing that beautiful aquamarine tiara of Princess Margaretha again? (Unless Margaretha suddenly decides that she wants to attend the Nobels herself. Now, that would be welcome. Ok, it's not likely, I know.)

Ohoh, so I am responsible? No I feel really bad! Can you forgive me? :p

Yes, quite early to think about the Nobels. But what else should one to if tiara events are scarce?

Silvia has worn the Leuchtenberg tiara at last year's Nobels and also three times this year. I agree that it is very beautiful, but still I'd like to see one of rarely worn tiaras again, either the cameo or the ruby tiaras would be a nice change.

I will gladly answer your questions, if I know the answers! :flowers:

At the 2015 Nobel Prizes, I would love if Silvia wore the Cameo tiara, Victoria in the Connaught tiara, and Madeleine in the Amethyst tiara. But those are not my "official" predictions. I will post it when the event it more near.
