I think some are reading too much into the minimalist style. Meghan does minimalist well in everyday life. Simple lines, and not a lot of print. However, she wows when it’s time to wow. And if there is ever a time to wow, it’d be her wedding. I just have a faint suspicion in the back of my mind that people who thinks she’ll go with barely there is going to be wrong on this. And while the SR is a pretty tiara, I think it just looks silly with all the flowers once you are past a certain age.

I think you are right about Meghan's minimalist style being her everyday style... because - that engagement gown was not minimalist. It had beading and embroidery on the bodice and a gorgeous pin-ruffled skirt in tulle.
I think - like you said - just because someone is a minimalist in their everyday clothing, it doesn't mean they don't know how to bring the drama for more formal occasions.

And if Vanity Fair is correct, Meghan's gown has hand beading - the SR may well go with the gown she chose.

At this point, I'm just hoping she actually wears a tiara. I don't want to hear the speculation about why she doesn't have one if she doesn't. Plus, I just really want to see her in a tiara. I hope that if she was thinking of not wearing one, someone gracefully talked her out of it. Like Joan Rivers said, "It's your wedding. This is your [one] chance to be a Princess. Don't blow it."

I mean - I know it's not her only chance, lol - but it's her BIGGEST one and I for one wanna see a TIARA!

Can the bracelet tiara be worn all diamond? I thought it had to have a coloured stone to make the three strands so i ruled it out, if it can be all diamond they maybe its a possibility but I cant see how it would be worn with a veil. I wonder if the Queen has earmarked a caertain tiara for Harry’s wife from a while ago? Who knows what hiding in those vaults... maybe the Double meander we saw on anne?

I am not a fan of her wearing the S.R. because it's so style specific and I really don't care for it when the tiara does not match the 'theme' or style of dress and other jewelry.

So if she wears the S.R. I hope it fits the 'theme' of her dress and decor.

Very unlikely to see the Meander...that was given to Anne and worn by Zara too...it's appears to be their family tiara.

I love the Sapphire Bandeau but it seems unlikely she will wear colored stones in her wedding tiara.

Ah hmmm hard to say. Several tiaras previously in the collection are of 'unknown' status....still intact, taken apart, sold?

LaRae

It will be interesting to see if any of these "status unknown" tiaras surface either for the wedding, or in the months following as Meghan takes up royal duties. I've always wondered if those unseen-for-years tiaras were broken down and the diamonds used for other jewelry.

I suspect if there are any tiaras lurking in the vaults still we will see them appear soon, there simply aren't enough spare at the moment. I suspect/hope Meghan will get one of her "own" to borrow for her royal duties rather than wearing one now worn by the Queen or other royal lady. We know there are at least 2 - the Teck crescent and Starthmore rose that are still around but not worn by anyone (publicly at least) at present

There are five bracelets in total: an emerald and diamond one, a ruby and diamond one, a sapphire and diamond one, and two all-diamond bracelets. The bandeau takes three bracelets, so one of the three would have to use colored gemstones. That's assuming they stick with the original bandeau.

the bracelet tiara

I hope Ms Markle has better taste than to pick this.. Bracelets NEVER work as Tiara's [altogether too puny to make any impression]..

Better to use Brooches than this imo.

Queen Mary's sapphire bandeau is also missing, but I doubt it would show up in a wedding as brides normally don't wear colored stones.

We also have no idea if they are in good repair or not, either. I hope so, because I'd love to see these worn by somebody.

I wholeheartedly agree!!

I have said several times that I don't think a woman's everyday style is a good indicator of what she would choose for her wedding dress. Also, venue and type of wedding play into that choice. Her engagement photos dress was certainly not minimalist and structured.

Meghan is not going to choose a similiar type of wedding gown for a formal wedding in a large church that she chose for a fairly casual beach wedding.

I am looking forward to seeing her dress next Saturday.

I think the Strathmore would be marvelous for Eugenie, depending upon her dress.

The Strathmore Rose Tiara would be lovely for Meghan. It does have Royal history. However, please recall that it came from Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon's parents, The Earl and Countess of Strathmore. Is that not a wonderful history in itself?

It is but I think Meghan will go for something less "girly". I'm betting on the Lozenge tiara.

If it exists still, the Lozenge would be a great option.

It is curious that many "missing" tiaras were once associated with Princess Margaret. If the Lozenge tiara ended up with Margaret's heirs, there is a great chance it is gone now.

I don't think the Lozenge has been seen in public since the 60's.

Yes, it was last worn by Princess Margaret in 1965. She wore it twice before in 1948 and in 1950. Queen Elizabeth II never wore it, so it is unclear who inherited it from Queen Mary. It may belong to the Queen and be just a loan to Margaret, or it may be part of Margaret's estate (less likely in my opinion).

It may be in the vault sitting in some dusty corner or taken apart or sold...which I hope it's just sitting in the vault waiting to be worn.

I've never heard anything about it being part of Margaret's estate...I don't think that likely.

The Lozenge looks like it would be super hard to "break apart" though, right? Unless it was broken up into individual unset diamonds.

On another note, can someone explain the concept of making a bracelet (or 3) into a tiara? People keep saying this, but I don't get it - are the tiaras not made as tiaras? Are they all made from necklaces or something?

Have I lived my whole life not understanding what a tiara actually is?!?!:ohmy::eek:

Yes it would have to be taken down to the stones (which has been done to other tiaras etc).

I don't get the bracelet tiara either...they just aren't substantial enough for me to see how that would work...there are convertible tiaras but that is a substantial necklace that is worn as a tiara and it's designed that way.

No. There are different ways a tiara is set. Some are set in a way that it’s only a tiara. The support structure with gems on it (The Queen's Girls tiara for example). Or it can be made in a way to break down to different pieces of jewelry. Some can be broken down to brooches, but can be put together as a tiara (Princess Margaret's Poltimore as example). Some can be a necklace when taken off the base, but can be put back on the base to make a tiara (I can't think of one off the top of my head, but I know they exist ). In the bracelet bandeau’s situation, It’s three bracelets put onto a casing.

Ah okay...I get that.

Even if it's true (Lozenge belongs to Margaret) it's very difficult to say as the Lotus, which many believed it goes to Margaret's kids, ends up in Kate's head. I guess some Margaret's tiara is returned to the main line.

The bracelet is a beautiful jewelry but I don't think it's a good tiara (especially as a wedding tiara).

A good recent example of this is CP Mary's new-ish ruby and spinel tiara, which, if I am recalling correctly, she first wore in the necklace form, and later debuted in the tiara form.

For Meghan, while I'm still hoping for a tiara (the lozenge, please!) I'm really wondering if we're going to see jeweled pins or hair ornaments instead.

Princess Margaret also wore the Cartier Halo, didn't she ? And that tiara is now with the Duchess of Cambridge too.

The BRF has a habit of keeping jewelry in the main line and give it out to the collateral branches as loans only. Having said that, the Gloucester and Kent families, as well as Princess Mary and the Duchess of Fife before her, did inherit a quite sizeable number of royal jewels.

The Lozenge tiara may well show up again, who knows ? I agree it would be a good fit for Meghan.

:previous: Yes I forget about the Halo. But I specifically mention the Lotus is that its case is quite special, her daughter in law wore the Lotus in her wedding so many people suspected it is Margaret's (and she only wore the Halo few times).

It is a mystery that nobody wears this quite substantial tiara in these years. I thought it is a small tiara until I saw the gif of Margaret wearing it, it is not big but has strong presence. I really love its simple and nice design, the veil can hang down beautifully with this clear and smooth top line (and it also is the reason that I hope she will not pick the Lotus).

The Halo is out of the country in Oz on tour with the Cartier display.

I've changed my mind on this topic and think she'll not wear a tiara at all. I think she'll maybe opt for some sort of hair ornament made with flowers and other greenery. There's a bit of a 'hipster-ish' streak in Meghan and so I think she may well go for some sort of fancier boho chic type of style. Hope I'm wrong.
