From the research I've done the Filigree has been dismantled or sold. The status of the Lozenge is uknown as well.

Thanks LaRae, that might explain why I'm unfamiliar with them. That leaves the filigree bandeau as the best choice IMO.

Well except the Filigree bandeau is one of the ones taken apart or sold...and it's suspected the same for the Lozenge Bandeau.

Ah, that makes even more sense, if they haven't been seen in public in recent history I'm not that aware of them. I don't like dismantling jewelry to make other pieces, so once I read this has happened I pretty much erase that piece from my memory banks.

I really don't think the Crescent is appropriate for a wedding, but that is again JMO. I guess I revert to thinking she should either wear a newly acquired tiara or keep it simple and streamlined and have no tiara at all.

They haven't been seen in public in decades...since the 60's I think.

Most likely options are the Papyrus or the Teck, we know they are still intact and don't seem to be attached to any specific woman in the BRF. Kate's main tiara seems to be the Lover's Knot and Camilla wears the big tiaras.

I can't imagine she won't wear a tiara of some kind. I just don't expect it to be a large one.

Sorry to get OT, but if anyone should wear a (repaired) Strathmore tiara I feel it should be Princess Eugenie, her resemblance to the Queen Mum has always struck me and I think QEQM would definitely approve.

Whether or not she has worn it is irrelevant. Once it's reserved for Queens only, I don't think any monarch would deviate from that regardless if she likes the piece herself.
Yep, I did not include a quote but I was replying to a comment that QEII has worn the tiara / necklace and she has not. Also do we know that it is a Queen only tiara other than through deductive reasoning, i.e., there are no pictures of it being worn by a non-Queen.

There's actually a thread for Eugene's tiara (what will she wear)!

The Queen Adelaide's Fringe Tiara may be a Queen only tiara, but Queen Elizabeth II has not been seen wearing tiara.
If a piece of jewellery has been has been left to the Monarchy but designated as for the Queen's use only, whether she wears it or not is is irrelevant. But, in this case she does.

Personally, I hope she doesn't wear a tiara or if she does I would like to see something newly acquired, like Sarah of York's when she married. That was a second son's wife and I think her tiara suited her very well.
It did and does. But what about poor Sophie's mishmash created tiara? Even for a third son's wife, that thing is just plain ugly although Sophie still chooses to wear it on occasion.

Would this antique tiara work as a bridal tiara?

Honestly not at all a fan of that one.

The colored stones are so tiny, I doubt it would really be a consideration.

But it is not the most attractive tiara I have ever seen. And the shape, with the points, wouldn't work well with a veil, unless veil at the back of the head (no blusher) really.

Tbh I prefer the shape of Kokoshnik type tiaras to most others, really. They are quite simple but still diamond studded, go with any gown or other piece of jewellery, and with most hairstyles. And they don't have fiddly designs with flowers, arches, loops etc, though of course variety in everything is great. I don't know whether they are hard to wear, but personally I would be quite happy if Meghan had a Kokoshnik style tiara bought for her.

Unless we are talking the fringe style kokoshniks the British royals have, the kokoshnik style certainly has a great deal of design worked into it. Often flowers, leaves and so on.

Like the beautiful Danish kokoshnik which was sold in 2014. Stunning.

Tiara Mania: Countess of Rosenborg's Garnet Kokoshnik

My favorite though is the Swedish aquamarine one though.

Yes, sorry for not being specific! I meant the fringe style, but I agree the Danish one is gorgeous.

That is a lovely design (the Garnet Kokoshnik) but I'm not fan of the garnets.

LaRae

I lot of people don't really like garnets, the dark colour I expect, but I have a Victorian garnet ring I'm very fond of (the Victorians had a penchant that particular stone) and in the right setting garnets can be quite pretty.

I don't mind garnets, I prefer a dark stone. I just don't like them in a tiara.

LaRae

Actually I quite like garnets because of its dark red. But I think BRF has a tradition of using “white tiara” (diamond only) for wedding (do they have pearl wedding tiara?)

If I want to wear a tiara for my wedding definitely I would pick fringe/kokoshnik, they are a perfect match for veil. ;)

I actually don't like the fringe with a veil, something about the pointy ends, and the veil, just seem off to me.

The British royals don't have 'wedding tiaras'. But no on pearls at wedding. The only pearl tiaras in the main line are the lovers knot and the Grand Duchess Vladamir, neither of which have been worn for a wedding.

The Queen and Anne wore QM fringe, Diana wore her family tiara, Sarah and Sophie had new ones, Kate the halo, Zara the Greek key and Autumn the festoon tiara.

I know that BRF doesn't have wedding tiara tradition and my “wedding tiaras” actually is referring to “the tiara being worn in wedding by the bride”, just too lazy to type it:ROFLMAO:. Anyway thanks for the info.

Just realize Serena wore the Lotus in her wedding, but it's different story which both Serena and the Lotus aren't in the main line (at that moment).

I have to say that I think fringe tiara's make wonderful wedding tiara's however, I am not including Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik in that description. I cannot think of a bride that would have the gravitas necessary to carry off QEII famous "Wall of Diamonds". It is indeed an impressive tiara.

Please keep the discussion to more or less realistic options. The future Duchess is not going to wear a tiara that will be auctioned only four days before the wedding. Therefore some posts have been deleted for being either off-topic or empty. As per the TRF rules,
empty posts containing irrelevant short exclamations or comments will be deleted.

Still hoping beyond hope that the Queen Mary Lozenge will appear!

LaRae

:previous: I have voted for the lozenge, partly because I'd love, love, love to see it worn again. Also, it's a very pretty with a modern feel, and it would fit Meghan's personality quite well, imho. But the more I think about it, the more I tend to think it will be a new acquisition (like Sarah's) or something converted from older jewels (like Sophie's).

I also have the feeling it will something we have not seen. If they don't want to buy a tiara for her because of the publiv reaction they could use some of Diana's Jewels likem a neckalce which is not to the taste of Kate or Meghan and dismantle it to create something new.
