Least Appreciated Royal Jewel: Queen Margrethe's "Golden Poppies" Hair Ornament
I agree the starwars tiara is terrible, and it does not help that Queen Sonja dyes her hair almost yellow as well. Maybe it would look better on Princess Märtha Louises brown hair. Another "tiara" I have trouble with is the golden Poppies of Queen Margrethe, it looks fine when she puts one or two in her chignon but when she puts all of them at the top of her head it looks like she has a flower garden up there http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...9&d=1071376973 (IBL)

Ooh, this picture is a mess, this whole look is a mess, with the popies in the hair, the big dangling poppy earrings and the poppy necklace with a high - neck lace collar. What was she thinking of?

Definitely an understatement!
And it was Dorothy who said, "Lions, and tigers, and bears..oh my!" Well, she didn't see this eyesore either or she would've said, "Lions, and tigers, and bears, and your hideous tiara..oh my!"

Hej UserDane, so nice to see you again !!!!
I believe in hundred years or so the golden christmas-tree-candlelight holder (that's what it looks like to me) will become the hippest accessory of them all. Christian's future daughter Margrethe 3 will rule with this thing on her head
If we are lucky maybe we will even live to see it

I've got to weigh in on the poppy headpiece/tiara fiasco. I think the borg queen on the star trek series had less frightening headgear! How can you take gold and gems and make something sooooo unpleasant?
I hope Mary decides to keep this one in the vault when she's queen.
Having said all that, I'd love to see it up close and if Her Majesty wanted to give it to me I wouldn't say no

About the poppies
I actually think that the poppies of Queen Margrethe can be quite nice, and I emphasize CAN.:) If she wears just a couple of them (you can split them up), and not the earrings and necklace, they are nice and not to over the top. She did so at the engagement dinner for Frederik and Mary, if I remember correctly. If I'm wrong, please correct this

We should also not forget that the queen and Mary have different hair colours. With Margrethe's almost white hair I agree this yellow tiara doesn't look good at all. More like But with Mary's dark hair the yellow poppies might actually look nice. Maybe someone with good photoshop skills can give it a try? :p

DEar People,
Let us not go and spoil a great thing and have the incredible Princess Mary go and ruin everything by plopping any of those poppy horrors on her gorgeous little head. She does not need to look like the original Earth Mother in Star Trek or whatever. Why should she? She has one of the most sublime jewels in creation in the form of the Desiree Clary ruby parure. If you have not seen her picture with that masterpiece bedecking her splendid highness, practige Pract indeed- do go take a long and delighted look and you will see why we in South Carolina have the perfect saying for this situation: "If it aint broke, why fix it. " Cheers. Thomas Parkman

It's definately not pretty, but the worst? I'm still voting for Margrethe's poppies.
btw, Thomas and Janet- her name is LadyCat

I agree with LadyK - it's not great but wearable, unlike Margrethe's poppies!

I say it is hopeless--from the head ornaments to the earrings. All that is lacking is a gold fishmerman's net to connect the ornaments to each other, and then it could be a hideous hair net.
I say melt it down (earrings too!! and then find some garnets and create a new parue. I say garnets because I think that only garnets look truly right in yellow gold.
