So far Máxima only wore the smaller tiaras... I hope we'll see her wearing one of the larger ones one day (like the saphire tiara).

Acutally the ruby tiara is one of the bigger ones and it is thought that it should be used by the Queen therefore the surprise when Máxima appeared with it in Stockholm.

I cant seem to choose between 1 & 3. I don't think a number of the smaller tiaras suit her as much as the bigger, more grand ones.... quite like Camilla

I liked a lot of the tiaras, but my favorite one she wore has to be the Diamond Bandeau Tiara. It's so simple and stunningly beautiful!

I like tiara #4. It is like in a fairytale. You are the princess fulfilling wishes of good people.

My favourite one is definitely the Diamond Bandeau Tiara, it looks so elegant.

I also like10.

 You´ve got to be kidding! This is definatly one of the worst tiaras ever imo.... The first time i saw it i didn´t even think that it was real, i mean how can anyone waist beautiful diamonds in such an ugly setting - it looks like it was boaght in the nearest toy store...

I like #1. It has the lower profile, but the enormous stones. Must be dazzling when the light hits it. It also looks as if it is convertable to a riviere necklace, which would be very impressive as well.

I like most the first one ,the diamonds are big and round.I dislike all the others

What about none of the above. I detest the Dutch collection above just about all others. Some magnificent stones and the most ghastly artisanship and plebian taste imaginable. I think they are all being worn in an attitude of repentence for our sins. We must, as good Dutch, not be too showy. I have even heard that the good Dutch burgers put charcoal behind the dimanonds in their jewelry so they would not shine too brightly. there is the aquamarine space station and that awful Mellerio ruby horror straight out of a 30's or 50's medieval Robin Hood romp. No thank you. Break into pieces, sell the lot and give the funds to some deserving charity if repentence it is that you must have. And then go out and get your hands on a decent collection of tiaras worthy of the name and your rank, wealth and station. Cheers.

United we stand in the general dislike of the Dutch Royal jewels, dear Thomas Parkman, as I'm not only desperately looking for the option to vote 'None of the above' here, but also for a thread to finally determine which tiara of all the ugly ones actually looks worst on incredible, unsinkable und unstoppably vibrant Maxima.
For me the worst would be that special horror of seeing the ruby 'tripod-turned-upside-down' tiara on her head at the glorious 60th birthday Bernadotte celebrations. Not mercifully buried in her mother-in-laws helmet hair anymore and placed straight, accompanied by the choice of a fire engine red puff ball feather dress, the tiara stood out literally, with Maxima looking like the Devil's wife growing three horns and enyoing the process. A sight to behold.
The best? Well. I never understood why so many love that rose cut diamonds piece which is the epitome of boredom in design... a necklace has fallen on someone's head and been forgotten there, understandably so.
Maybe 'the best' would be the emerald thingie with its tiny prongs. It's unremarkable, so it doesn't hurt the eye.

Boris, I do love your posts! I agree--the Dutch collection of tiaras is not necessarily the most pleasing--we do need to remember though, the time period in which they were created, and they are, in their own right, masterpieces of craftmanship.

That being said, I think they are generally overdone and look as if they may well induce headaches! The sapphire tiara has always looked painful to me. The Mellerio ruby tiara, well, I've never cared for it. It reminds me of garland on a Christmas tree--but, I DO love the necklace. It is beautiful. That ruby peacock thing just confuses me--the emerald tiara looks like a spear rising up out of the head and thusly, I don't love it. It's off, there is too much in the middle and the whole thing looks oddly shaped.

I do like the Laurel wreath tiara--it's lovely, and simple. And, while it is true that the diamond bandeau tiara is indeed nothing more than a necklace on a tiara frame---it's simplicity won me completely over because all the other tiaras are so overdone. And, Maxima outshines all jewels anyway, so the simpler the better. There is no way a tiara can compete with her.

Well, though I agree about the unfortunate designs of many tiara's, I do like Queen Anna Pavlovna's pearl and diamond tiara. Can't see why anybody is horrified by that, as listed above. I prefered the emerald tiara without the adition of the two pronngs on the side, it just looks even more curious now. It is a pity that theough the collection is valuable and they have a lot of big stones, the result is rather unsatisfactionairy.

I think some changes can make quite a few tiara's 'work' though. Make 4 copies of the diamond leave brooch (shouldn't be all that expensive) and place them on the base of the pearl button/star tiara, as was the original version for example.

The pearl tiara of Anna Pavlovna's is really lovely---
Antique Pearl Tiara
and I think that Maxima wore it beautifully with her hair down like it was in those pictures.

i can see a lot of people don't like the dutch jewells, what can i say eventhought that i would not mind to have one of them and have the pleasue to use it if it is only once!, even the most awfull one! the rubie one, the nices, may be the diamonds and the perls1, all of them have diamons, perls, rubies, emeralds, etc.....beautifuls stones!

I too think this is a lovely tiara especially when worn with the hair down. I would love to see Maxima in the Laural Wreath. I also think she could pull off the sapphire tiara. It is a stunning example of ample funds!;) The shear amount of tiaras of the Dutch is interesting as alot of them are quite small. I think they should break down a couple and make one outstanding one for Maxima. She seems to be quite fond of emeralds and the one they have is just too small or something is not right. Maybe that would be a good one to make over! IMO only:D

I think the dutch have sufficient big tiara's, sadly they usually disappear in HM's hairdo. Queen Emma's diamond tiara looks 3 times as big when it is worn by Laurentien than by HM for example. I agree that the emeral tiara isn't the most fortunate one, though I especially dislike it in the new setting with the five pearl prongs.

I am always in favor of an elegant up do with a tiara. Not only does it give something to anchor to, but I always think long loose or poofy/big hair just looks strange. Perhaps short hair. But I could never figure out how one attaches the tiara. Although there must be a way Diana certainly wore them often enough.

I am changing my mind.:rolleyes:The Peacock Tiara is my favourite. It looks very lovely with the gown.

It's definitely one of the Tiaras I never expected to see on Máxima.
I really like it.

I voted for this Ruby Tiara in the beginning , but now I'd probably either chose the Peacock Tiara or the Pearl Tiara (I loved it with the updo hairdo!). :flowers:

I think the Antique Pearl tiara is beautiful and Maxima wears it with style and grace. But, I have to admit my favourite is the Diamond Star tiara. It seems that Maxima can make something that is initially perceived as insignificant look magnificent. Whenever she wears it she manages to make it look like something out of a fairytale.

But perhaps the reason is her fabulous warm smile and without that it fades away.

My favorites are, in this order, #1, #3 and #2.

I was torn between 3 and 4 (finally settling on 4, the stars), but I think it's because of the way they've styled her hair. I don't think it's particularly becoming when they give her a hairstyle that's just scraped off the face, I think she looks better with a looser hairdo. She looks tired or old if you give her a very severe hairdo, and she comes across as an energetic or vivacious person so the hair doesn't match the big personality.
