Indeed, sometimes I wonder how QEII can stand under the weight of granny's chips!

I think the royal ladies get used to it after awhile. Diana wasn't used to wearing tiara's so the Spencer Tiara that she wore at her wedding gave her headache. I think she got used to it after awhile because it ended up being the tiara she wore on a regular bases. The two main tiara's she wore is The Spencer Tiara and The Lover's Knot Tiara.

Perhaps Catherine will bring the Lover Knot back to life again. I guess you can't expect The Queen or Camilla to do it. I think it's up to Catherine.

I have to admit I would rather see Catherine with any other tiara other than the Lover's Knot

I know she has happily worn her late mother-in-law's sapphire engagement ring and a few of her sapphire earrings but I think, if she is wise, that should just about be that it for the near future. Her engagement ring has almost gotten to the point that if there is a particularly good shot of it it is not juxtaposed with a picture of Diana wearing it. She has almost made it her own.

But Catherine is not Diana and needs to be allowed to establish her own personal jewellery style that will be associated with her and remembered for the way she wore them not for "Who wore it Best".

I don't want her to wear the Pretzel Tiara because I personally dislike it (hence the un-affectionate nickname) and because there are probably prettier pieces that have been gathering dust for a lot longer.

I hope to see her again in a tiara AT ALL!
It may happen that we need to wait quite a while, looking at the "politics" around Tiara events and the non-Show-Up of the DoC.
So I hope for a tiara outing soon - and yes, I would love to see the Lover´s Knot on her.
And please then with hair up......

The Cambridge Lover's Knot remains as one of my favourite Tiaras of all-time and my favourite of the British Royal Tiaras along with The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland. So I would love to see it reappear in the public eye, I quite miss it, but to be honest, I don't think Catherine will use it right away, I think she will stick to the Scroll Tiara for a while when she starts using Tiaras, but I can see her using The Strathmore Rose Tiara as well (I heard it was being repaired, I hope its complete now).

I think anyone who will wear the Lovers Knot Tiara will be compared to when Diana wore it. That's just the reality. It wasn't Diana's tiara but a royal family heirloom and at some point it will likely be worn again, despite the comparison.

I think it's a shame it hasn't seen the light of day since the early 90's. it wasn't even on display with the other diamonds at Buckingham Palace for the exhibition during the Diamond Jubliee.

Where on earth does the idea that anyone other than royal jewellery fans with a knowledge and interest in the topic associate the Lovers' Knot Tiara with Diana come from? I see this mentioned on this board and a few other royal boards and I have no idea why people keep saying it. I mean, if you showed 100 people on any British high street a picture of that tiara on its own and asked them who they thought of when they looked at it, I'd be willing to bet 98 of them wouldn't have a clue.

The only tiaras that I think the vast majority of people would even vaguely recognise would be the Girls of GB&I or the George IV State Diadem, mainly because they're the tiaras the Queen is wearing on coins, stamps and bank notes in the UK.

If Kate wore the Lovers' Knot, the Daily Mail and the Express would do a story about how it was the tiara Diana sometimes wore, print a few pictures of that, but then it would be forgotten and we would all move on. It would just be Kate in a beautiful tiara. I hope she does wear it because that tiara is too lovely to leave in the vault for much longer.

I agree. It's a great piece but it really haven't seen the light of day since Diana last wore it. The Queen stopped wearing it in the early 50's. It didn't come back out of the vaults until she handed it over to Diana in the 80's. Now it's been back in the vaults since the 90's.

I think Catherine should use The Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara, along with her Cartier Halo Scroll Tiara. Being that she's the current Duchess of Cambridge (there haven't been a Duchess of Cambridge for some time) I think she could use the Cambridge jewels.

I somehow think the reason why we haven't seen it is because The Queen is leaving it to William's wife, Catherine or Harry's future wife.

I just think we royal fans, who are interested in what the royals wear both clothes-wise and jewel-wise, forget that the vast majority of people have no interest in either. Most people just see the Queen in a tiara and that's all they see. They're not looking at which one it is and who wore it before and where. They read nothing more into it than 'there's the Queen in a tiara'.

Most people don't remember what Diana wore, apart from her wedding dress and maybe one or two others, if that. I remember a few years ago when Camilla wore a brooch that Diana once wore and the DM said that it was awful that a brooch 'so closely associated' with Diana had been worn by Camilla. I'd never seen the brooch before! I'll bet 99.9% of the public had no memory whatsoever of the brooch itself, let alone associated it 'closely' with Diana.

I think the reason Kate wore the tiara she chose for her wedding is not because the Lovers' Knot was worn a few times by Diana, but because it was small and light and she'd feel comfortable in it on a day when millions of eyes were watching her every move.

Kate will be the latest in a line of royal ladies to wear the Lovers' Knot tiara. No more and no less than that.

This is tiara hair related - but I do want to ask this here.

All of Catherine's hair updo moments piled her hair more to the back than more frontish - which would be where she needs it for a tiara.

So it will be quite a departure for her to wear it piled as the base for a tiara.

Does that make it more likely then for her to wear her hair down with tiaras? Camilla does it so well, but she has a large head and fluffy hair. The queen as well.

Well she managed quite well the Scroll Tiara with her hair down, so I'm sure she will have no problems wearing larger Tiaras with a loose hair.

As for up-doos, I think she hasn't had an up-doo way on top yet, her latest up-doos were all low, close to the neck. I think that an up-doo on the top and a Tiara never goes wrong and Catherine has a nice hair that with bigger Tiaras will be aboslutely flawless!

What a load of old cobblers! The "article" isn't even well researched, instead it bemoans the fact that Camilla wears jewellery and Catherine often doesn't. Those are personal choices.

Camilla has a lot of jewellery, the greater part she brought with her into her marriage. Two out of three of her tiara's are loaners from the Queen but I think the Deli Durbar was a oncer for CHOGM.
Catherine too has a nifty collection from both before her wedding and since. Whether she bothers to wear it or not is entirely up to her. Her one tiara is a gift from the Queen and she has not attended any gala occasion worthy of a tiara since her wedding.

So, is she supposed to drip diamonds in Tescos?

Not sure which one but she's wearing on this evening;

Mark Stewart ‏@RegalEyes 3m
The Duchess of Cambridge, the 1st time since her wedding day, s wearing a diamond tiara with a light-coloured lace gown.William in white tie

Kate's tiara looks to me like the diamond fan-motif tiara that once belonged to the Queen Mother & later Princess Margaret.

Potentially not Halo because Halo is a wave pattern.

Papyrus is a possibility - http://media.tumblr.com/89d974f223bc...1vW1ryby8q.jpg
