What we need is for Catherine and William to go a Tiara gala event which all the other manarchies attend - that is the only way I know for such events to make to the British attention. Being competitive, the UK public would not want others to outshine our royals.

I would really like D&DoC to go to the Inauguration in amsterdam - that could start the ball rolling

It are especially the scanidanivian Royal Houses who have the most white tie Events. In the Netherlands whit tie is only used for State Banquets and the annual Banquet for the Diplomatic Corps but at they later no photgraphers are allowed therefore we never get pics of it. Belgium and Spain have white tie only for State Banquets and Queen Paola and Queen Sofia also don't wear tiaras at black tie State Banquets abroad. However the dutch Royal ladies often use tiaras for black tie Events abroad, like the scandianvian Royal ladies. Or like in Denmark for birthdays or other celebrations (like the 70th birthday of Queen Margrethe) that the dresscode is black tie but tiara optional. Wonder why not more Royal Houses do this.

So would I but the press would be less interested. My comment was referring to getting the Brits back to wearing tiaras, not the order of precedence on events like the inauguration.

Don't think that is likely because Camilla never wears a tiara at black tie State dinners abroad. The Queen always does and so did Diana.

That's very true. Somehow the British royal ladies stopped wearing their regalia at official dinners in the late 90's, I think. Only if The Queen is present.

I know! When they announced it was to be Cambridge after the wedding, I was really hoping to see her appear with the matching Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara. She's a tall lady with a lot of presence so I think she would/will carry it well.

It would be nice if she dusted off the Lover's Knot. She could even play around with it a bit and take the pearl drops out and wear it like that. The Queen do it everynow and then with The Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara:

Sometime she even apply the Cambridge Emeralds to the tiara. Catherine being the current Duchess of Cambridge, could use some of the emeralds for the tiara. The Teck jewels could come in handy too.

I'm having a hard time imagining what the lover's knot would look like without the pearls. I wonder if it would look ok or not?

I think it would look okay against Catherine's dark hair. I'm just saying it could be an option for Catherine if she didn't like to have the pearl drops swinging while she wear it.

Yes they could take the pearl drops out when Catherine wears it (if she will in the near future), just to make the Tiara look diferent and fresh, and also allow to shake down the hype of Diana's shadow following this grogeous piece.

Well, we have to be patient....lol. Since The Queen hasn't worn it since Diana's death, I have to think she offered it to Catherine for her use. But maybe Catherine had a choice to select from and chose something else. Who knows?

There's also the possibility it will be offered to Harry's future wife to wear.

Well Catherine seems to be quite capable of soldiering on with the engagement ring, so I would think it's not likely to be an issue.

IIRC Diana was 5'10 or 5'11 and as I understand it Kate is 5'8 or 5'9, however it's not just about the height it's about the physical presence as well. Diana had more 'body' to her. Kate is of a different body type even if their heights are very similar. It makes a difference when it comes to carrying off certain clothing/jewelry.

Here's an up close picture of the Lover's Knot Tiara:
From top, The Girl

I think the pearl drops can be detached and replaced. Possibly the pearl drops can be made into earrings too.

I've always thought Diana was a bit taller and heavier than Kate; Kate has a rather slight build.

However, Diana said that whenever she wore that tiara, she always ended up with a headache. I don't think she was sorry to part with it.

The comparison with Diana is a nonsense , " she can carry off clothes and jewellery that Catherine can't". The Queen is tiny, 5'3" and a small frame; and Princess Margaret was even smaller. No one says that they can't/couldn't carry off the clothes and jewellery.

Let it rest, please.
