Hello to all members of TRF!
I recently joint the forums and now here's my quick introduction:
My first interest in (historic) royalty arose on a pretty "far-fetched" occasion. As a 5-year old child I had read the comic-book "Asterix and Cleopatra" and was totally enchanted by the charming ancient Egypt. Luckily, my mother used to study history at university and owned a
vast pile of text- as well as photo-books about ancient cultures. Consequently, I jumped at everything I could find about the old Pharaoh dynasties. Later, I was likewise fascinated by the old Mesopotamian, Chinese and Japanese dynasties. Concerning modern royalty some time had to pass until December 1999 (I was 13 by then) when I was –by chance– watching crown prince Philippe of Belgium’s wedding at TV and became immediately intrigued with the Belgian royal family, especially king Albert II and queen Paola… until now –even if I’ve developed an interest in some other royals (e.g. crown princess Victoria of Sweden) as well over the years.
So, I’m happy to be in this large and international community of yours
