I suppose the children are called like this: Olympia, Alex, Andy, Kim and now we have a little Ari.
Can´t imagine that MC speaks out the full name of her children in the correct greek version. IMO even native Greeks will grin when they come to know that Pavlos has such a faible for "old" Greek names. Can´t imagine that little greek children have such kind of "old fashioned" names like MC and Pavlos´ kids.... The former Greek royal family seems so keen on keeping traditions that it´ s starting to become a little ridiculous slowly.

I guess that it's a nice name, and of course very Greek, but it just doesn't roll of the tongue easily, at least for American speakers. I think that all of the children's names are mouth-fulls, but this is plain impossible for me to say! Well, just as long as they are healthy and happy, it's good.

It's more like Olympia, Tino, Aki, Odi and probably little Ari.

LOL. In one of her many interviews MC said, after Achilleas's birth that she calls him Achilles (French version)while his father calls him Achilleas as the Greeks do.
I suppose except for Constantinos, (which they more or less had to name their first son) they chose names as far from the GRF as possible since all the previous Kings except for Pavlos had some issue or another while reigning in Greece.

Come on,ladies!Pavlos and MC have found a good way with their babies'names in order to make a good impression and show their "huge love" for the country. If they really loved Greece,MC and the kids should speak greek f l u e n t l y.Names are just a few words,so that's pretty easy, don't you think?

Their kids have gone to Greek school since the beginning so they have been learning to speek Greek for years.

But we still don't know how they really feel about our country.Maybe they have mixed feelings, because Greeks never really liked them and we are still very suspicious about their true intentions.

This is not the thread to discuss Greek attitudes to the Royal Family.

thanks.

however the Church would never accept a non Greek Orthodox to baptise a G.O child. Therefore when I read that Prince Charles or Prince WIlliam are Godparents to Pavlos' children, this means they stood next to the GO Godparents as witnesses but not Godparents.

WRONG.
Orthodox Church accept Catholic person to be a godfather, in the same way that they accept a Catholic to marry in the Orthodox way, without being converted.

As regards Protestands or Agglicans I do not really now, but witnesses do not exist in the Othodox baptism, so they should be acting as Godfathers.

Do not forget that Prince Philip (Charles father) is son of Greek Orthodox, and he should have been baptised i the orthodox way. so it might make a difference for Prince Charles.

I am sorry to contradict your statement, but I know what I said is a fact.
Catholics can marry a Greek Orthodox without the need to convert and they sign a commitment at the time to raise their children Greek Orthodox.
When it comes to Baptism, only a Greek Orthodox (giving the proof of their own baptism in the GO Church) can baptise a child. The parents (same as MC & Pavlos have done) can choose another 3-4 non Greek Orthodox to stand by as witnesses but the Nonos (God father) or Nona (God mother) have to be baptised in the GO Church themselves.
Prince Charles is a member of the Anglican Church and he could not have been the one "oiling" any of Pavlos's children. He stood next to Pia and they were looking on.

A US citizen can go to Greece at anytime. There is nothing preventing it. If a child is born on US soil it is automatically given US citizenship even if the parents are another nationality. There is a big effort to change this. If a child is born abroad, one of the parents must be a US citizen to obtain citizenship. Also, the child's birth must be registered with the nearest embassy or consulate in order to get citizenship. If you do not register your child they will not have citizenship.

I agree with many others I think she went to the US for medical care. The specialists who are top in their field are often in the US.

They probably went to get rid of the press. Last time there car was surrounded by photogs as they were trying to get into their car. This time there have been no pics.

I had missed this news so I'm glad to hear both M-C and little Ari are both healthy and doing well. I expect we'll see some pics pretty soon!;)

Any reasons why the child was born in Los Angeles rather than London which is where I thought they lived? Perhaps Cedars Sinai has some type of special neo-natal unit -- you remember that Marie Chantal had some complications with her fourth child. Although I can't imagine there isn't a similar type of facility in London?

Anyway ... good news!

Great news indeed! Anoter Greek prince! How exciting. Congrats to the famiy.

I too asked myelf why the little guy was born in Los Angeles when his parents live between London and New York. Interesting. If anyone knows... let us know....

I´m anxiously awaiting for the first pictures of little Ari. What a gorgeous family they are!

I came across WWD online and saw this posted about MC's reason for being in l.a. and the unofficial baby name:

WWD.com Party coverage, boldface names, red carpet news, and the latest fashion and society insights.

Hope this works

Thanks for sharing that. I love Greek names but they are so darn hard to pronounce... lol! Makes sense that the baby would be born in LA if they were living there to open up a store for the clothing line. It might also be for citizenship reasons as well. Not any press arond it if any, which is nice.

I agree, I too love the names they have given thier children. Very greek indeed and such beautiful names. I love it. Ari is defanitly no exception to the rule. Great addition in baby and name!

They seem to be favoring the classic Greek names somewhat more than the names derived from Orthodoxy, which I think is fine because it reflects all the roots and origins of the nation. I spent some time in Greece and it was a revelation to me to meet so many Greeks who had names that I thought only belonged to figures in Greek mythology or ancient history.

It's been a while and we still have no pics? Usually they hve some pics release of family leaving the hospital or family visiting. This time it seems very quiet.

Yes,that's true.
Does anyone know if they're planning to live in LA?
I think I've read something like that, because of MC's new store.

The family is trying very hard to honor Greek heritage,I agree.

Everyday I check this thread to see if there are any pictures of the baby. I love the Greek Royal Family and find Pavlos and Marie Chantal as well as their lovely children very likeable, as well as Alexia and her gorgeous brood.

I wonder if they will release photos before the christening. I keep checking for photos too, but I have a feeling they will probably wait until the baptism.

I still haven't found out who they are going to pick as Godparents...anyone know? This little baby would also be considered a Danish Prince, a British citizen, a US citizen, Greek????????????????

I like many of you cant wait to see the pictures of the new addition to the lovley family.....

I think we will see Aristidis on a magazine , when Marie Chantal regains the figure of her body
I hope that Marie Chantal has not gained much weight....

I think that the child was born in the U.S, because Marie Chantal had many problems with her fourth son.it is a Hospital very prestigious
I think that the child is not interested in having U.S. citizenship.
Why?
Because the Brussels Convention states that European citizens can travel at any state of the European Union without a passport, for this reason Constatino can travel to Greece with a Danish passport.
But if he had the passport of the U.S.,Greece can prevent it from entering its territory
I think that Paul has Danish citizenship, so he travel to Greece without problems.

Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles has a certain cachet and is very popular with celebrities, but it is the LAST place I would want to go to have a baby
I lived in Los Angeles and I know of two instances where newborn babies received shocking hospital care - once was in the mid 1980's when twin babies received tainted blood in transfusions - one baby died
And another instance again recently where the twin babies of a celebrity received the adult dosage of a blood thinner and both babies almost died -
I don't know what Marie Chantal was thinking to have her baby at that particular hospital -

I DO NOT KNOW IT… all the hospitals have cases of negligences and in the matter of transfusions. In europe, the law is very severe to be blood donor, even so always is some case of contaminated blood.
the hospitals of famous do not have because to be better than others.
I think that the famous ones go to those hospitals for keep their privacy, that the press does not find out it. It makes me think that Marie Chantal and Pablo could to have sold an exclusive right to a magazine and they wants that nobody can do photos of the boy. It is by the contract with the magazine.
what do you think about it?
(they have sold a exclusive to the magazine, and by it was to the SinaI hospital.)

Yes,that's true.
Does anyone know if they're planning to live in LA?
I think I've read something like that, because of MC's new store.

I still think it was for medical care. That is one of the top hospitals for giving birth. It also has a whole floor devoted to high profile births. The whole family can stay in a suite there. It isn't just a room. They also pamper you a lot while you are there.

I doubt she is moving to LA just b/c she has a store there. Her sister Alex lives there now. Perhaps she wanted to spend time with her? Maybe she has wanderlust. Who knows.

Honestly, two incidents are not that h igh. In the 1980's many people rec'd tainted blood. It was due to not having the screening process they have now. AIDS was just news then, and they still were not confident how it was transmitted.

As for the blood thinner, are you talking about Dennis Quid's children? That was a terrible incident. Apparently the viles that contain blood thinner also closely resemble a vile for another product. Thank goodness the children survived. But I thought it happened at a San Francisco hospital?
