Grace & her career
do you think Prince Rainier should have let Princess Grace continue with her films? I think he should have. She was a classy actress and only ever made good films that would neve tarnish her reputaion. So why should she start all of a sudden when she married? had the Prince been more flexible with her, she would have a had an even longer and greater film career.
But then again i dont know how the people of Monaco would feel if Prince Rainier would have let her continue. I understand they didnt want their princess to act anymore but its not as if she did vulgar films or anything. So why would she start?

Australian -
Actually, Prince Ranier gave his permission for Grace to continue as an actress, but the uproar from the people of Monaco against this action was so loud that Grace decided not to do the film. She found an outlet for her creative skills later in life by doing live, dramatic readings before small audiences.

Marnie
Why did the people of Monaco have a problem with Princess Grace playing a theif in "Marnie" She should have been able to play it. I just want to know why, even though Rainier allowed her to act, the people of Monaco didnt want it?

The main problem that Rainier (and therefore his people) had with Grace playing Marnie was that the character was not only a thief but was "frigid". At this time these were themes that were just being touched upon in film and were considered to be racy. Rainier and his people apparently did not think it appropriate for their princess to play such a character. Also, the filming would have taken her away from her duties and in a way away from her people. Thereby making it seem that she was "leaving" them. At least, this is what I gather from the most recent book on Grace and Rainier (Once Upon a Time by Randy Taraborrelli). Hope that helps!

Beautiful photos...
I also wonder for memorial service...Probably there was a mass in Monaco Cathedrale, or something like that..It's a hard day for family althought so many years passed by..
Mother is always mother..and wife..

I just bought "Once Upon A Time" as well. Does any one know how accurate the book is?
