The shops in Monaco were asked again to decorate their
windows with circus objects, clowns, posters and so on.
It's a colourful competition in remembrance of Prince
Rainier and a gesture of recognition of Princess Stephanie's
work, one of the responsibles said. The three winners of the
competion will get free entrance to the gala show
Here's an aticle with a pic:

At one point Rainier wanted to run off with the circus- when he was a lad- and I guess Steph has taken charge of his unfulfilled dream. It is rare to see the circus anywhere nowadays- and Steph is doing a great with PR.

You mean, you do not have that many circusses in Canada any longer, Jaya?
Here in Europe we do have a lot, and especially as to my experiences here in
Germany I would even say we have too many that compete with each other.
Here are three additional galleries from purepeople, zimbio and IBL with yesterday's pics:

Nice to see Stephanie so truly involved in The Circus Festival, as always.
Great pics Iceflower!
IMO, one of those should be picture of the month.

We'll definitely keep those pics in mind, giov, and if you like
send us your favourite at the end of the month I fear
the decision will be quite hard again as so many circus events
will follow the next days - good for us as fans of course, but
bad for the right decision

Animals should live in their natural environment, and not be used for economic purposes.

No the only circus we have is the the running of our government.Rarely does the real circus come to town anymore like back in Europe. So it is a spectacular for me to see pics even from Monaco.

Thanks a lot for posting the first pics, Radker18! Seeing
Albert and Pauline attending as well is a great surprise,
I was only expecting Steph attending the first show
and now Pauline is nearly stealing the show
Thanks for explaining, Jaya, a pity for all circus fans but
better in the eyes of the animal rights campaigner of course.
Rosana, you are surely right and it's a conflicting issue for
sure.

Thanks folks for carrying me back to some childhood memories. I think as adults if we're not taking the kids, we tend to overlook the circus, at least I do. But they're still around quite a bit.
Coincidentally, the other day I saw a marquee advertising an upcoming circus. I got a temporary tingle. When I was a child we lived about 2 blocks "this side of the railroad tracks" and one block beyond the tracks was the baseball field where events were h eld. When the circus came to town it came down our street. As it got in front of our house my sister and I fell into the ranks right behind the elephants. We "escorted" them all the way to the field where we "helped" them get ready for opening. My sister always managed to get free tickets for certain events. We were little neighborhood tykes and they were on our turf.
Thanks for the memories.

Pauline looks gorgeous! She's gotten so grown up since the last time I saw photos of her.
