I deeply respect Melanie and the pride she takes in her home country. I notice that she is always present at important events, even more often than members of the princely family, and always in the background. I wish more was known about her, her day job, the charities she’s involved in, etc. I hope she will be awarded an order soon, if she has not yet received one.

I also spotted Melanie’s brother Jean Leonard.

In the past Baroness Elisabeth de Massy often attended but have not seen her in sometime.

Gettyimages update their gallery all the time. More pics of the family on the balcony there. P Gabriella again stealing the show when she uses the donut to peer at the sun!

Unlike some of the younger members of the direct family, Melanie lives and works in Monaco. It’s not surprising she may attend things they don’t.

Melanie is CEO and cofounder of a MACMAS which is an investment group based in Monaco. She is also involved with the Tennis foundation and country club and has helped with some events with her mothers patronage’s.

But nice to see her and her brother there.

Great to see the photos from the Sainte Devote Celebrations yesterday - as usual; Jacques and Gabriella are the stars of the show!

The Sainte Devote Mass on January 27 has also been the last mass of Bernard Barsi, the Archbishop of Monaco - his official farewell to the diocese before retiring and returning to his hometown Nice. Bernard Barsi had been the Archbishop of Monaco for 20 years.

I always find it astonishing, that Monaco has since 1981 it's own Archbishop. They have 5,000 citizens and 40,000 inhabitants there, but an Archbishop. Why?

To save the souls of all the gamblers and high rollers there?

But I am not astonished, that the catholics find personnel for Monaco, but not for the vast Amazon region... Monaco is cool! But an Archbishop there is like a casino in the Vatican!?

Lovely celebrations - the twins are cute, Albert is a proud father, Charlene looked great both days and seemed far more relaxed than she has for a while. Gabriella is a lively little girl.

I had wondered whether Caroline would be present given that Monseigneur Barsi was standing down. She must have had other commitments and it's been a while since she attended - she probably said her goodbyes privately.

Monseigneur Barsi will be missed he had a wonderful relationship with the Princely Family,he presided over the funeral of Prince Rainier III and the Enthronement Mass of Albert II ans many other family events.

It is a shame that Princess Caroline and her family and Stéphanie were not present at the pontifical mass and action de Grace , Msg Barsi was archevèque of Monaco during 20 years, Caroline was at Paris for the fashion Week she could leave Paris to attend the mass
She has not attended the Sainte Dévote since a long moment, since 2012, Sainte Devote is the patrone of the princely family

There is never excuse when Charlene is not present to an event but here there are Always excuse when Caroline is not present

Victor 1319, The catholique religious is the state religious, the inhabitants are not all gamblers , There are, inhabitants as you and me, There are nurses, emplyees and also poor persons who are needing of a religious , Strange your comment! you Don't know Monaco

I absolutely agree with you! I almost think that I could have written it!

Fashion week was over by the time of Sainte Dévote and Caroline only attended the Chanel show so that wasn't the reason for her non-attendance.

Nobody has made excuses for her - as she hasn't attended for many years and hadn't attended for several years before that last appearance it isn't especially strange she didn't go. Given that she is a practising Catholic, has been involved in projects with Monseigneur Barsi in the past I'm sure that farewells were made privately. I never expected to see Stephanie - she hardly attended in the past even when her father was alive.

It would have been nice to see them for some of us - I don't think you really care as you can't stand either of them.

You need to make your mind up - either Caroline (and Stephanie) and the "smala" are trying to take over and push Charlene out and need to be lower profile OR they should be turning up to things. Which is it?

There is a difference which you yourself are always keen to point out - Albert, Charlene and the twins are the Princely Family, Caroline and Stephanie and children are not part of the main attraction any more. They aren't expected to turn up to everything.

What about Elisabeth de Massy - she goes every year. Where was she? What is her excuse?

And there are excuses made for the criticisms made of Charlene.

There is a huge difference between the consort of the sovereign and his sisters. It’s natural there is different expectations and levels of criticism.

Look at the siblings of any reigning monarch? Do people blink if Carl Gustaf sisters don’t attend say the Nobels? No. But if Silvia didn’t??? There would be shock and definite questions. Same with any monarch. No one blinks if Felipes sisters are missing from a bigger event but Letizia is another matter.

Caroline is no longer the First Lady of Monaco and Stephanie never was. They both attend events are involved in Monaco. But they have a balance.

As for their families many live and work outside Monaco and have their own responsibilities to see to.

Its wonderful that its still going ahead even with restrictions in place.

Always look forward to watching this live every year, a nice opportunity to see the children.

Lovely to see them all. Gabriella was very taken with the burning of the boat. Like her little pink outfit. There were slight Michael Jackson vibes with the hat and mask. [emoji4]

Love Charlene's coat - cosy and stylish.

Its such a wonderful tradition and Feast day and the fact we saw the Princely family is an extra bonus this year.

The pictures WOULD have been lovely if it wasn't for those horrible, sinister looking masks. No one and no occasion looks pleasant with these over people's faces, especially children's. I also don't personally see why members of all the one family walking outside at a distance from other people must wear them but that's just my opinion, it's not the Princely family's fault that these are the rules.

Charlene was very elegant. A lovely coat that was perfect for a chilly evening.

If they didn't wear masks, they would be bashed for failing to wear them....

Your right, they absolutely had to wear the masks, I wasn't questioning the family but the logic of some of the rules themselves. It's a pity though that the children, at least, wore masks that were so severe. PG's little pink outfitt was in stark contrast to her black one, even a white or floral mask would have been a lot nicer.

i dont think it matters waht they look like. If they protect people, then everyone should be wearing them.. and the best ones are the ones that protect best, regardless of what they look like
